PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - BAKER BREED - Shih tzu mix SIZE - About 15 pounds AGE - 6 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Baker is a precious little fellow! He came to us recently from our favorite WV shelter partner after he had been surrendered to the shelter by his owner. Unfortunately the landlord would not allow a dog. Though we know he misses his owner, he is adapting well and showering us with love here. His gentle spirit would allow him to fit into any home well and be a wonderful companion. Other than having chronic dry eye, Baker is in great health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date with all vaccines and has tested negative for heart worms. His dry eye is treated easily with artificial tears and he is very nice when being given his eye drops. We are seeking a home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with this amazing dog! A home without small children and larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard will give Baker room to run and play safely. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Baker and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Baker at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.

Story
I found Shiloh wandering the streets in Richmond. I took him in and posted him on facebook just in case but it didn’t seem like anyone was looking for him. I’ve had him for about 5 years now. I don’t know his age but I know at least older than 9 or 10. I’m looking for him to have a good home with someone who is going to love him and give him the comfort he deserves. He’s a sweet boy, who is still very spunky. He’s a good boy, i walk him without a lease but he does good on the lease as well. He likes a schedule and does so well with meeting new people, kids, and other animals. The only thing he does not like is another animal sniffing his face but other than that he’s great! I am his groomer and would still be willing to groom him when needed!

Story
Hello, my name is Sonny. I’m an approximately 4 year male old Shih Tzu. HANOVER HUMANE WILL ONLY BE ADOPTING ME TO A HOME IN THE RICHMOND, VA-METRO AREA AND COUNTIES ADJACENT TO HANOVER, VA. I WILL NOT BE ADOPTED TO HOMES WITH SMALL CHILDREN. My Adoption Fee is $350. If you wish to meet me, you must first go to the Hanover Humane website (www.hanoverhumanesociety.org) and complete the online, no-obligation, adoption application. Once they process your application, you’ll be contacted to make an appointment to meet me. NO WALK-IN VISITORS – YOU MUST FIRST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Email with questions to: info@hanoverhumanesociety.org I had a hard start to life in a puppy mill up north, but I’ve been living it up since I got to Hanover Humane Society. I’m calm, sweet, and love the outdoors. I’m still learning to trust people, but I don’t mind being held or handled. I do fine on a leash and I also get along well other dogs. I’m pretty good about not messing in my run, so while I can’t guarantee that I’m potty trained, chances are pretty good that I can get there with some proper training. Although I’m not that old, I probably had really bad teeth at some point because when I got to Hanover Humane Society, all of my teeth had been pulled (not uncommon in puppy mill dogs living in bad conditions). It doesn’t cause much problem – my friends here soak my hard food in a little warm water before they feed me and then I can eat it right up. I’d love a calm quiet household with a patient owner to dote on me and give me the life I deserve.

Story
Hi, My name is Texas! I was recently rescued for a local back yard breeder/hoarding case. Despite my rough start to life, I am a happy girl! Here is what my foster mom has to say about me - *Very cuddly and loving *Like to explore *Crate trained *Due to the conditions in which she was born, she will likely need a few supplements to help keep her on her wellness journey. Please see past her current physical appearance, she will be a lovely pup once she is all better. *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-application What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds" may have a higher adoption donation. Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays noon to 4pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week. Approximate Age: 7 Approximate Weight: 7.2 lbs Meet Wyoming! -one of many from a hoarding case. -gets along with everyone, tries to play once he's comfortable and matches other dogs energy -has great crate and house manners but will need to watch him for cues when he needs to go outside. Of course there will be an adjustment period -sleeps in crate at night and is crated while we are at work, but otherwise loves being out and about in the house -10/10 snuggle buddy -was timid first three days he was here but then came right out of his shell. -overall just such a sweet boy -skin is still healing from prior living conditions You can still come adopt me or even join our foster program to help the humans learn all the awesome things about new dogs like me!
