Story
🐾 BOLT was one of 8 little dogs a local owner was struggling to care for and then faced homelessness, to boot. They surrendered 4 of them to us, and we've got them all fully vetted now, and they're acclimating to their life changes at their respective fosters and doing fairly well. They're all a little timid and unsure and will need to patience and time to feel comfortable and safe again. Bolt is reported to be 3 years old and as we said, now fully vetted. His foster does report he's coming around slowly, but needs someone willing to give him time and space and not to push him. Because of this, we're saying kids would not be a good fit for Bolt at this time. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
🐾 Pretty FOXY is a recent owner surrender who is 2 years old and about 10 lbs - she looks to be some kind of Pomeranian Chihuahua type mix. She was reported and so far seems to be sweet, friendly, and okay with other dogs and cats. She's very much a people person and lap dog who loves to be near her person. Her foster has been taking her to work with her and she's very non-reactive to noises, other dogs, loud noises, and new people. She's on our schedule to get spayed and microchipped, which is included in her adoption fee, but we got her caught back up on the rest of her vetting. Her foster reports no accidents with frequent outs so housetraining seems like it will go fine in her new home with some attention and rewards. We'll share more pics and info as her foster shares with us, but so far she seems like a sweet little pup! Story
🐾 SASHA is a new owner surrender who came to us with 3 other littles and whose owner could no longer care for them. She's 3 years old and we've got her spayed and vetted, and now looking for her forever home. She's maybe some kind of shih tzu mix, an adorable little 9 lb pup! She's sweet and a little shy at first but is a lover once she's relaxes.
