Mike’s previous store kitty was the beloved KitKat who lived at the market for 8 years before being run over and killed by a Waymo car. You might have heard about this incident. It was all over the news and was quite traumatic for Mike and the 16th street community, who all knew and loved KitKat. So Mike took Coco in to be spayed and was crushed when Coco turned out to be FeLV+. He was going to return Coco to the original guardian until he found out there were other cats living there. Now what? Enter Karen, a huge SNAP Cats supporter. Karen knows Mike through her hubby, Rick, who works at the Roxie theater next door Mike’s Market and who helped Mike navigate the whole publicity generated by the Waymo death of KitKat. Monty is a sweet little love, we adopted him from the Humane Society in Santa Rosa in February 2026. He is friendly, but needs some time to warm up. We are rehoming him because he and our older cat don't get along, the older cat is territorial and causes stress for Monty. We have a younger cat, about 3, who he plays really well with. We also have a dog, they are just fine together. Monty is about 5 1/2 years old, he is a beautiful silver tip siamese cat. When we adopted him he was in rough shape but has since gained all his weight back and is super healthy. He is sensitive to fleas so the only health thing with him is making sure he is on routine flea medication. Otherwise, he loves cuddles, will give you hugs and does great with children.
