One day, Tillman (aka, Tilly), began displaying worrisome symptoms that no one at the shelter could fully grasp – his everyday actions took on an obsessive nature, and he became crestfallen, tortured by something unseen. Tilly had scabs, no fur in areas, aggressive skin issues. Tilly was soon diagnosed with hyperesthesia - a condition unknown to many but a harsh reality for him. It caused him to descend into compulsive grooming and self-mutilation - damaging his beautiful coat and scarring his skin. At the same time, his unsteady gait and seizure-like symptoms left him frightened and confused. His once sparkling personality was rapidly replaced by suffering and incapacitation.Tillman’s battle against hyperesthesia is ongoing, but he is far from defeated.
