Siamese kittens & cats in Toccoa, Georgia

Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is open from 11-4 Tuesday-Saturday.

Meet Mitzey! Mitzey is a beautiful 1 year old, domestic shorthair with a flame point coat, and pretty blue eyes! We have had Mitzey since November of 2025. She is very calm for her young age and spends most of her time resting in a hammock or sitting and watching the birds out the window. Mitzey was adopted in the past and returned due to having colitis issues from stress. When Mitzey became stressed in her new home her colitis flared up and she was sent back to the shelter. We immediately took her to our vet and started her on a special diet which helped and we haven’t had issues since. Mitzey needs a home where if she has a flare up she isn’t mistreated but taken care of and accepted. Mitzey is a very sweet girl, great with kids, and loves all people. If looking for an awesome girl, please submit an application for Mitzey online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed, or feel free to email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
