Story
Tuna Melt is a solid block of love. Looking at him now, it’s hard to believe he was living rough with an outdoor colony in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Tuna has had to regrow all his fur since we got him, but it’s his personality that truly makes him so gorgeous. With his mass and giant paws, Tuna Melt could easily bully the other cats. Instead, Tuna makes friends and plays gently with cats of all sizes. He would be very happy to go home with one of his friends from his community room. He loves people, but respects boundaries and won’t jump on you unless you sit down. He loves playing, catnip, and treats. He is just such a sweet fluffy man. We estimate Tuna Melt was born late spring of 2018.  Tuna Melt is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. As always, cat/kitten adoptions are free will donation to approved applicants. ****The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org**** June 4, 2026, 5:05 pm

Story
Name: Sam Age: Adult / DOB 3/14/2019 Weight: 12 lbs Gender: Male Breed: Flame Point Siamese  Coat Length: Short  Color: Orange  Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Child friendly: Older children who respect his boundaries  Litter Box Trained: yes Temperament: Gentle, sensitive, affectionate, cautious in new situations Energy Level: Low Adoption Fee: $190 +tax   To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: Sam is a sweet, gentle soul with a quiet heart. After losing his beloved person, he's taking things one day at a time and learning to trust again. He may be shy at first, but with patience, soft scratches, and a good brushing, his affectionate personality begins to shine. Sam is looking for a calm home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished once more.   From Sam: My world suddenly changed when my person passed away. Since then, this nice lady has given me a safe place where I can grieve, decompress, and learn to trust new people again.  I've met the other cats that live here. They seem okay. Well... except for the orange one. He gets a little cranky with the lady sometimes. There is also a really big cat here. At least I think it's a cat. It smells me a lot, but I don't mind it.  I enjoy having cozy places to curl up and sleep. The lady has given me lots of options, but my favorite spot is in the cat tower where I can keep an eye on everything while staying comfortable.  There are plenty of toys around, although I haven't felt much like playing yet. Maybe someday.  I prefer scratches over pets. My favorite spot is right above my tail. If you bring out a brush, you've pretty much won me over. I could spend hours stretched out getting brushed. T he lady tried putting me on her lap once. I quickly informed her that wasn't part of my current life plan. I hopped right down, but I stayed nearby so she could keep brushing me.  I think I would do best in a quieter home. Sudden movements and lots of activity can still startle me. I'm looking for someone who will let me adjust at my own pace and understand that trust takes time.  The lady says I have my days and nights mixed up. I'm not sure what she means. I simply prefer working the night shift. While she and the really big cat sleep, I patrol my room and make sure everything stays exactly where it belongs.   If you're patient, gentle, and willing to let me be myself, I think we might become very good friends.
