You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Smokey was an owner surrender due to a move.  He was born in October, 2025.  This guy is a vocal boy who likes to tell it like it is!  He is also a very friendly cat.  We will adopt him as an indoor only cat--that is all he has ever known.  Adoption fee is $100 with an approved application which is available at mchs.rescuegroups.org.  Smokey has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV; he is now neutered and current on shots/dewormings.  You must be 21 to adopt from MCHS and a pet carrier is required at the time of adoption.  We will make an appointment to meet Smokey after we receive and approve an adoption application.  Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN.  We are located off of I-90 via exit 180B to 218 SOUTH.  We are just past our local airport.  THANKS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2026, 6:37 pm

Meet Skye, a stunning 8-year-old blue point Siamese with plenty of personality and a little bit of spice. Skye is looking for a calm, patient, cat-savvy home that will respect her boundaries and allow her to settle in at her own pace. She can be affectionate, cuddly, and full of purrs with her trusted person, but earning that trust may take a little time. Skye is the kind of cat who forms deep bonds once she feels safe and secure, and for the right adopter, gaining her trust will feel incredibly rewarding. Skye is litter box trained and has done well with respectful dogs who understand her space. However, she would do best as the only cat in the home, as she can be both territorial and fearful around other cats. She also prefers a quieter environment without a lot of chaos or change. When Skye feels overwhelmed or unsure, she may hiss or swat to communicate that she needs space. She gives warnings and responds best to people who understand and respect cat body language. She is also not currently accustomed to being picked up, largely because her elderly owner was physically unable to do so for several years, though with patience and trust-building, she may become more comfortable over time. Skye came into rescue after her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her. She deserves a home that will give her the patience, understanding, and stability she needs to thrive. For someone who appreciates a cat with personality, boundaries, and a deeply rewarding bond, Skye may be the perfect match!

Skye is an 8-year-old Siamese mix who has been a loved part of our family for many years. She was found as a tiny kitten along the side of the road in 2018 and became our teenager’s pet. During COVID, and a move on our part, my mom took her in, and they quickly bonded. Due to my elderly mom's declining health, she can no longer care for Skye, and we want to find her a home that better suits her personality and needs. We have taken Skye in again, but have since gotten another cat. Despite efforts we cannot convince the two to get along. Skye is independent, strong-willed, and a bit of a “slow burn.” She prefers affection on her own terms, but with time and trust she becomes affectionate and enjoys lap time, head butts, and forehead kisses. She may not give the best first impression, as siamese are known for, but patience pays off. She wants to be an only cat. She lives with two Labs and does well if they respect her space. She is primarily an indoor cat but enjoys time outside.
