Story
Sushi can be very skittish when you first meet. I got him as a kitten and it took quite a bit of time and patience for him to warm up. Once he did he has been very loving. Loves to be pet and be curled up on your chest. He is scared of my son. Despite my best effort, my son has scared Sushi who will hide from him. I am in a financial crisis and it hasn’t improved. So with a heavy heart I need to rehome Sushi to a new loving home with someone who can devote time to play with him.

Story
Catania is a warm, calm girl who likes to be in the company of people.  She enjoys being brushed and getting some snuggles. She will cry to let you know if she feels isolated & lonely & will eventually come to a responding call. She was not fond of my older cat when she first arrived but has gotten used to her.  At first, she hissed at her (nothing beyond a hiss) but now she has gotten used to her (after a weeek or so here with us). She loves petting & food, but has not shown any interest in toys.  She likes to follow me around the house to see what I am going to do next and whether she can participate.  She will stand on my lap for a short time if I put here there.  On the bed, she will make herself at home while you are there.  I suspect with more time in a home, she may discover lap sitting.  She takes a little time to adapt to a new place, but she adapts well when she does.  We do know she lived with a number of other cats before she came to MPR.  She has not lived with dogs before so we do not know how she would do with them.Meet Catania by completing our online adoption application or visit her during our weekly adoption event at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, 12-4pm on Saturday.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. January 8, 2026, 12:44 am

Story
Sage is more cautious and sits on the edge of his siblings' roughhousing. He eventually gets in there and enjoys playing with the group.  In a litter of 6, he will probably appreciate a little less activity with only 1 or 2 active friends rather than 5 others. He is a real sweetheart, and when he needs some "me time," he will happily crawl into your lap for some pets.Sage and his brother Basil will be attending our Saturday weekly adoption event from 12-4pm on Saturday unless adopted before that.  Apply to adopt to be the first to schedule a meet and greet.  Get $50 off the combined adoption fee when adopting a pair of kittens. All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, given a few rounds of dewormer and started on monthly flea preventative.   All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption.
