Story
Camper is a very chill cat with beautiful markings. She took a little while to warm up to indoor life and will need gentle coaxing as she gets accustomed to her new surroundings. She enjoys napping on a heating pad during these cold days of January and is happy to be inside, not in the campground where she had been living. She doesn’t appear to be playful yet but she sure does love to have her head rubbed. Ideal family will be ones who will continue to give her time to adjust and allow her some quiet time.  Camper has been exposed to a dog, cat and a hyper 4 yo child and doesn’t seem phased by them.  She is very sweet and loves to be pet but still nervous about venturing around her foster home after about 10 days there.  She will definitely be one of those cats that goes by the 3/3/3 rule….3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, 3 months to start to feel at home.   Camper is in a foster home.  Complete the adoption application and a meet and greet can be scheduled.  All cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. January 28, 2026, 12:51 am

Story
Sushi can be very skittish when you first meet. I got him as a kitten and it took quite a bit of time and patience for him to warm up. Once he did he has been very loving. Loves to be pet and be curled up on your chest. He is scared of my son. Despite my best effort, my son has scared Sushi who will hide from him. I am in a financial crisis and it hasn’t improved. So with a heavy heart I need to rehome Sushi to a new loving home with someone who can devote time to play with him.
