Story
Czechia came from a large apartment complex where no one was taking care of him.  He was quite emaciated, dehydrated and had a upper-respiratory infection and had a bite wound on his chest.  We don't know for sure how old he is but he is FIV+ and was in really rough shape.  He bounded back so well in a loving foster home though and in 4 days gained about 1.5 lbs.  In 2 weeks he gained nearly 3 lbs!  Wow!  This boy wasn't ready to give up and was super happy to be saved!  He walked willingly into our trap while being coaxed by one of the apartment's office staff.  In his latest foster home, a dog grooming salon, he took a few days to warm up but is now cuddly and making biscuits.  He does startle easily but is calm and doesn't cause anyone any trouble.  He would likely do best in a calm, quiet home with gentle people who will show him the love he deserves after being out there to fend for himself all this time.  He did hang out with another cat at the apartment complex and they seemed to get along well.    Czechia is FIV-positive, which means he has a compromised immune system. He doesn’t currently need any special daily care, but if he ever becomes sick, he should see a vet promptly so minor issues don’t turn into bigger ones. FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives, especially in a stable indoor home.  They can also live with other cats as long as they are spayed/neutered and do not viciously fight to cause deep bite wounds.  And Boots really has enjoyed all the other cats he has met in his foster home.  Meet Czechia by applying to adopt or visiting him at The Thrift Hound, 234 New Leicester Hwy, during business hours Tue-Sat, 10-5. If you hope to take him out of his condo to visit or take him home the day you meet him, submit the online application and one of us to call you to approve your application and schedule a meet and greet.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventatives.  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. March 1, 2026, 12:06 am

Story
Millie is a spayed female white Siamese kitten, born on August 15, 2025. She has heterochromia (one blue eye and one green eye!) and she is fully deaf. Millie is as sweet as can be! She loves to cuddle and play with her toys and other cats!! Due to her disability, she will need to be in a very safe space since she cannot hear predators, other animals, or people approaching such as small children who could startle her easily. She does best with a gentle approach, a soft touch to a paw or a hand brought slowly to her so she can smell your presence first if her eyes are closed. She will do best in a home with other cats. She is bonded with her brother, Axel, and it would be great if they were adopted together but it is not a necessity.  Indoor cat only! The adoption fee is $200. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR, Rabies, flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/cat-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina. Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.February 24, 2026, 7:45 pm

Story
Axel is a neutered male white Siamese kitten, born on August 15, 2025. Axel loves tunnels, wand toys, and anything he can climb! He’s an athletic little guy but tires himself out rather quickly just in time for snuggles. He is bonded with his deaf sister, Millie, but will be okay to adopt alone if he is going to a home with another cat. Indoor cat only! The adoption fee is $200. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR, Rabies, flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application.
