Story
Hello, my name is Pasquale (rhymes with Jolly) and I am an outdoorsy kind of guy. I love long nature hikes, anything that involves an adventure in the car, and sniffing around the “back 40.”
My goal in life is to get so tired during the day that I can have a long, restful sleep at night. I have a lot of stamina, am hearty and am a hypoallergenic breed blend. My foster parents, who are hobbyist wine makers, also refer to me as a “custom blend.”
Those “in the know” (aka Google image search) say that I am a Shih Tzu and Silky Terrier blend. All I know is that I am a goofball and cuddler at heart. I have been in my foster home for a few weeks now and they have small dogs that I like to run around and play with. They also have two giant (to me) German Shepherds that kinda make me shy even though they are lovable and cuddly to their humans.
My ideal home would have active adult humans who enjoy spending time with me, taking me on new adventures and exercising with me.
I am up-to-date with all of my shots, have had my baby makers removed and am microchipped.
If you’d like to apply to adopt me, please send an email to info@KenMarRescue.org and write a little about yourself and why you think I would be a great fit in your home. Once you’ve had a chance to put your best “paw” forward in the email, please write “Request for Adoption Application for Pasquale” on the subject line.
If you’ve made it this far and are still reading this, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to learn more about me and for possibly carving out a small space in your heart and home to give me a chance at a great life.
I pray to share the life you live.
Make a great day.
XOXO,
Pasquale

KenMar Rescue moved forward with the call for help and rescued him.
Obsession: Learning about all the good things in life like basking in the summer shade, cool hikes, and yummy treats.
Favorite food: Hard boiled eggs and boiled chicken
Pet peeve: Going night night. Would rather sleep at the foot of your bed or closeby.

Pasquale additional details:
The following information is the most recent update we have received from Pasquale’s foster parents. We have made this information available to help you, our adopters, learn more about Pasquale prior to inquiring about a meet & greet.
Please read thoroughly before reaching out to us—this will help reduce the number of emails we receive every day and in turn, allow us to respond to the emails we do receive more quickly!
Please note that a dog's behavior often varies from one environment to another, and a decompression period in a new environment can last days to months.
General Personality:
Pasquale is shy with new people but will usually let them pet him after sniffing.
Daily Routine:
8:00am- go out for pee
8:30am- eat
9:00am- cuddles
10:00am- play!
12:00pm- snacks
2:00 nap
4:00 play
5:30- dinner
6:00pm- go out for pee

Housebroken?
Pasquale prefers grass and is given plenty of access to relieve himself outside.
House Training Progress:
Pasquale will let you know when he needs to go potty outside but will require some guidance on the layout of his new home’s floor plan so as to navigate how to find you and how to exit to the grass area.
Behavior Around Dogs, Cats, or Kids:
Pasquale is good with small, gentle dogs. Curious at first but then engages in play. He is submissive and prefers peace to confrontation. He is not the alpha of the pack by any stretch of the imagination.
The foster home he is in does not have cats or kids.
Energy Rating (1 = very high; 5 = very low): 3
Leash Walking Rating (1 = difficult; 5 = perfect): 2
Leash Behaviors:
Social puppy that wants to please and smell everything, loves to explore. Needs patience, redirection and attention. Slowly learning the routine.
Crate Rating When Left Alone:
2 - sleeps in a climate controlled area in the house at night with plenty of room to run around and multiple beds to sleep in. Has separation anxiety in a crate. Daily activities such as mental stimulation through play and new learnings as well as routine physical exercise helps reduce and relieve these symptoms: a tired dog is a sleepy puppy.
Does the dog sleep through the night?
Yes, especially if fatigued due to consistent, daily, extended activities such as long walks and playtime, he is part Terrier, after all. Prefers to sleep in an area where he can feel the presence of his humans in order to keep his humans safe.
Other Quirks:
Pasquale likes to be near you when you are working from home. That’s his favorite spot. He wants to be the best helper.
What makes him/her happy?
Attention, food, patience, training, mental, social and physical activities. The usual stuff that makes every being happy.
What makes him/her nervous or unhappy?
Sleeping alone at night or missing out on a chance to go somewhere.
Other Displayed Behaviors:
Both new groomer and private vet gave him high marks for first visit interactions.
Pasquale is a fluffy breed blend that was given a puppy cut by the groomer so as to be cool for the summer.
Pasquale’s private vet gave him a clear bill of health, aged him at between 3-5 yrs old, and said he might need a dental cleaning next year.
Pasquale’s private vet also has administered his two Lepto shots and says that Pasquale is at his fully grown, ideal weight of 15 lbs.
Current Walking set up:
Leash, harness and collar
Currently Eating:
Taste of the Wild Bison kibble with one smashed hard boiled egg and small spoonful of canned pumpkin at each meal. This is augmented randomly with boiled chicken as available.
Pasquale is fed twice a day with healthy snacks in between.

Please note:
❤️We prefer ADULTS, no small kids, (gentle, animal-friendly/respectful teens ok).
❤️We prefer HOME OWNERS with a SECURED YARD.
❤️We will ask you about your Succession Plan. Meaning, in the event that you are no longer able to provide for your new family member: who will get the dog, where is this stated in writing, etc. The Successor person will be asked to participate in the adoption process (zoom calls, in-person meeting, etc.) so they are part of the decision-making from the beginning and are aware of the orphan’s needs.
❤️We are located in 2.5 hrs east of San Francisco (on the way to Yosemite). Please consider transportation logistics to meet (and possibly adopt) your new family member. Also, if things do not work out, please bear in mind that you would be responsible to return the orphan back to us.
❤️Vet, petsitting, future medical expenses, etc., for the life of the pet will be your responsibility. As pet parents, please consider these commitments before applying.
