Story
Courtesy Post - Miss DeeDee Fostered in CT. contact : saveadogger@gmail.com A super-cute little lady, only 3 yrs. Silky terrier mix. She is now taking applications for her new foster to adopt! She takes a minute to let her guard down due to her past of being left in a basement for months. But with cookies and patience, she will be your bestie, and will want to be with you all the time. But she doesn't mind her crate, if you have to go out to replenish her cookie, food, and bone stock. She will just bark a bit, then settle down, and wait for you. Energy -high. & high prey drive. * Fun and playful. Potty trained, yes. Although she is perfectly happy sitting next to you watching tv, or outside watching birds, trees. She is an escape artist* NO off leash, always on harness or fenced yard., so she needs someone with little dog experience who understands her quirks about her past. She does not like her bones trying to be taken from her. she has to agree to be picked up, or it won't workout. and she does not like the vet (vet ptsd), needs meds before getting her nails cut, or vet visit. She is UTD rabies, and has had her others previously. She is not ok with other dogs or pets she is too scared ,(although is ok walking by other dogs who are calm, she typically will bark), and no kids due to her past. She just wants to be the only fur-child. And after what she has been through , can. you blame her? So if you're looking for a BFF to hang with, work from home assistant, or perfect retirement friend, She's your girl. contact : saveadogger@gmail.com

Story
Meet Pepper, a super cute 8 year old spayed female shih tzu mix! Pepper is overweight currently at about 23 lbs, she is on a diet and her foster mom is working hard to help her drop a few lbs to get to a healthier weight. Pepper has recently had a dental and had most of her teeth pulled. She also eats rx urinary food due to previous bladder stones.  Pepper came to us as a local owner surrender. She has been loved her whole life, however her family made the difficult decision to rehome her after she became very stressed out by the toddler and young baby in her home. She is a sweet girl but definitely tends to be anxious, and she prefers the company of adults or respectful older children 12+ (we can’t say we blame her!).  Pepper is currently being fostered in CT  and is doing well! Her foster family reports that she is a pretty calm and lower energy girl who would do best in a quiet, calm home. She is independent and will come up for attention when she wants it and will just chill on the floor or couch when she feels like it. It took her a few days to really start seeking out more attention and choosing to crawl into laps or roll over for belly rubs. She really is a sweetheart once she has had a little time to decompress and warm up to new people!  Pepper has gotten along well with the other dogs in her foster home (all smaller dogs, we are unsure how she would do with larger dogs), and her tail is always wagging! She has not been cat tested, but we feel she would likely be fine with cats.  Pepper is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special girl today!  **Pepper will not be available until our 1/11/26 adoption event at Petco in Dayville, CT. We are accepting applications on her now! We will prioritize applicants who are able to attend the 1/11 event. If Pepper is not adopted at the event, we will move on to other applicants.** Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2618180##

Story
Meet Benny, a super cute young adult neutered male Maltese mix, weighing about 10 lbs! Benny and Bianca came to us as local intakes when a Good Samaritan contacted us after finding them both roaming the streets in very poor condition. They were underweight and riddled with fleas. The Good Samaritan tried to find their owner but no one claimed them, and he was not in a position to keep them, so we took them into rescue and got them up to date on vetting. Bianca was found to be pregnant a short time later and is due to give birth in January 2026, so she will not be available until her puppies are weaned and she is spayed. But Benny is ready to find his furever family and put his past behind him! Benny is a friendly, sweet boy who loves everyone and just wants to be your BFF! He is very playful and enjoys running around with the other dogs in his foster home. He also loves to cuddle! This boy is a total love who does not have a mean bone in his body  He is good with other dogs, cats, people, and kids.  Benny is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special boy today! **Benny will not be available until our 1/11/26 adoption event at Petco in Dayville, CT. We are accepting applications on him now!
