Story
Courtesy Post - Miss DeeDee Fostered in CT. contact : saveadogger@gmail.com A super-cute little lady, only 3 yrs. Silky terrier mix. She is now taking applications for her new foster to adopt! She takes a minute to let her guard down due to her past of being left in a basement for months. But with cookies and patience, she will be your bestie, and will want to be with you all the time. But she doesn't mind her crate, if you have to go out to replenish her cookie, food, and bone stock. She will just bark a bit, then settle down, and wait for you. Energy -high. & high prey drive. * Fun and playful. Potty trained, yes. Although she is perfectly happy sitting next to you watching tv, or outside watching birds, trees. She is an escape artist* NO off leash, always on harness or fenced yard., so she needs someone with little dog experience who understands her quirks about her past. She does not like her bones trying to be taken from her. she has to agree to be picked up, or it won't workout. and she does not like the vet (vet ptsd), needs meds before getting her nails cut, or vet visit. She is UTD rabies, and has had her others previously. She is not ok with other dogs or pets she is too scared ,(although is ok walking by other dogs who are calm, she typically will bark), and no kids due to her past. She just wants to be the only fur-child. And after what she has been through , can. you blame her? So if you're looking for a BFF to hang with, work from home assistant, or perfect retirement friend, She's your girl. contact : saveadogger@gmail.com

Story
Spongey arrived to TJO with lots of matting, so much so that he almost resembled a certain sea creature from Bikini Bottom. Once freed from all the stuck together hair, Spongey settled in and started relaxing. He does best in a quiet environment that allows him to enjoy the benefits of frequent naps so he can continue to be playful. A slow integration to a new home, and a reliable routine will help him acclimate to his new digs.OTHER PETS: Spongey is interested in other dogs and has invited play with another older dog. His best fit would likely be with another older dog who is social with a similar play style (not too rambunctious). As with all our dogs, Spongey should meet any dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Spongey can be particular about the kind of handling he likes and when exactly he wants it. He would do best with someone that has experience with dogs and positive reinforcement, and knows when to let him have his own space. Spongey will bond closely & enjoys spending time with his guardian. [Some Experience]KIDS: Spongey is particular with handling but has not exhibited resource guarding while at the shelter. He flourished in a quiet space in the kennel and would do best in a quiet home. Any minor humans should meet Spongey prior to adoption. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Spongey enjoys laying in bed, rolling around in his bed, and playing with various toys. As he feels better is becoming more active and curious about the environment. He is the quintessential old man who refuses to stop playing, even if he can't play as much as he used to when he was younger. He's affectionate when he is comfortable and enjoys being social. Mental enrichment (play, food puzzles, games) will help meet his nees. [Couch Potato] VETERINARY CARE: Spongey will need a good relationship with a vet with bi-annual check-ups to ensure that he has a good quality of life as he continues to age. He has recently had a dental in which the rest of his teeth were removed. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Spongey bond with his new owner as well as help him learn new skills and tricks to keep his mind active. Spongey barks when he experiences big changes and will likely bark initially, but once he feels more relaxed he barks less. A reliable potty schedule and lots of treats & happy voices will help him transition to a new home and limit potty accidents. [Minimal] GROOMING: Regular brushing will keep Spongey's coat clean and matt-free between grooms, he should be groomed every 6 -8 weeks. [Professional Grooming] December 30, 2025, 3:59 pm
