Meet Pretty Portia!   This adorable Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix was found wandering as a stray in a rural community northwest of Nashville. She was hungry, frightened, and severely matted—clear signs she hadn’t been cared for and had likely been on her own for some time.   After her grooming, a new Portia emerged. She joyfully ran up and down the animal control hallway until she tired herself out. That was when Mr. Randy knew he had to find a rescue for her. With a quick call to Miss Peggy, Portia was soon on her way to her foster home.   Portia is a bit hesitant at first and may need a couple of days to settle in. Once she is comfortable and knows you are her person, she will become your loyal companion—rarely leaving your side and always wanting to know where you are and what’s happening.   Portia gets along well with other dogs and has a wonderful time playing with her foster sister, Molly. They romp and run together in the fenced yard. Portia is also good with cats.   She loves to play but is equally happy to settle in for TV time and snuggle next to you. Portia rides well in the car and will be a great companion for any outing. If you’re looking for a diamond in the rough, Portia could be the perfect addition to your family—just give her a few days to settle in. He will be required to attend our adoption event in Dayville, CT on 9/20. His CT foster said, "Everyone, meet Mickey! Mickey is an adorable 3-year-old Japanese Chin with the sweetest personality! Mickey is very friendly with everyone! He is curious about everything and loves exploring the world around him. Mickey is also very respectful and does well around other dogs and kitties. Mickey is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccines, and ready to find the loving forever family he deserves. Could Mickey be the perfect new addition to your family?" She loves to snuggle, will follow you around the house, and enjoys playing with toys. She snores and makes adorable noises. Other than that she is quiet as a mouse. Her squishy face is the cutest. She’s what I call an “indoor girl” but does great on a leash but only likes to go out to do her business and get right back in on the couch.. She is happy on the couch or being carried around (her favorite). If you want to go for long walks in the park, she is not the dog for you . She is definitely a lap dog."
