Story
Meet Shihra Knightly! Shihra is a 7-year-old female Shih Tzu weighing about 20 pounds with a soft coat and an even softer heart. Rescued from a puppy mill, she’s adjusting to her new life and learning that people can be kind and safe. Shihra is a people-loving girl who really enjoys attention and will happily let you know when she’s ready for snuggles. She has a bit of a chatty, expressive personality and likes to stay close to her humans, but can be slightly shy. Shihra's been friendly with the dogs she’s met so far, including small and medium-sized pups, and has done just fine. We’re still working on training basics — she’s currently using pee pads and will need continued help with house and leash training as she settles in. With patience, love, and a consistent routine, Shihra is sure to blossom into a devoted companion who just wants to be right by your side! Shihra is being fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, and her adoption fee is $450. Shihra Knightly is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Callie 💕 Callie is a 7-year-old, 15-pound Shih Tzu with a heart as soft as her fluffy coat. This very sweet girl adores belly rubs (she’ll happily roll onto her back and soak them up — a true sign of trust!), cuddling on a warm lap, and giving the gentlest little kisses. She loves attention and affection, and she warmed up quickly to both Foster Mom and Foster Dad. Because she was rescued from a puppy mill, Callie will need slow, gentle introductions to any new dogs. She just needs a little time and patience to feel safe and comfortable. She has not been cat tested. Callie is currently using puppy pads in the house and settles in quietly through the night. When the weather warms up, we’ll start transitioning her to outdoor potty training — and we’re confident she’ll learn in no time. She’s currently enjoying Blue Buffalo Chicken & Rice for adult dogs (with a little boiled chicken mixed in to spoil her just a bit!). Callie is also learning to walk on a leash. She’s still a little hesitant, but she’s doing well and gaining confidence each day. If you’re looking for a snuggle bug who will fill your life with love, warmth, and sweet puppy kisses, Callie may be the perfect girl for you. She’s ready to find her forever home. Callie is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Sarah Lee, named affectionately after the bread brand, is an adorable 7 year old Shih Tzu who is ready to give some love to her forever humans. Sarah Lee is currently around 25 pounds, and though she may have a few pounds to lose (hence her name), she is an active girl who will be in a healthy weight range in no time! Sarah Lee was a breeding dog at a puppy mill before she was rescued. She is a lover and has really shown just how sweet can be over our last few weeks together. Though a bit shy at first, she quickly warms up to her humans and then shows them tons of affection. She will give kisses, sit in your lap, and kindly request more ear scratches. She has learned how to walk on a leash and can take a 1 mile walk like a champ. She is crate trained, and her favorite spot in the house is a tie between her crate and the corner of the couch. She also has many classic Shih Tzu mannerisms, like the goofy snorts and sneezes when excited. She will play with her foster sister (when her sister tolerates it) and has some interest in toys. She is working on potty training; she does not have accidents in her crate, but has shown some marking in our home when free roaming. She is also learning how to go up and down stairs, but has not mastered this yet. She would do well in a household with children who could give her lots of love, but really would do great with anyone looking for an affectionate lap dog. She would also do well with another dog in the household to continue to show her the ropes. She has not shown any aggression towards other dogs or humans; she only gives kisses and the occasional bark when she’s really excited! Sarah Lee had a tough start at life, but you can barely tell because she is so friendly and affectionate. Her forever family will be so lucky to have such a sweet dog to call their own! Sarah Lee is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
