Story
🐾 Meet Our Incoming Sweet Treats: Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks & S’mores! 🍦🍫 Coming soon to Sunny Bear Rescue, we have four absolutely sweet and lovable little girls who are sure to melt your heart—just like their ice cream-inspired names! Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks, and S’mores are making their way to us from a kill shelter, where we’re working hard to help keep the numbers down. These girls have had a rough start, but we know they are beautiful, loving pups who deserve a second chance at life. While we don’t know much about them yet, we do know they are Boxer and English Springer Spaniel mixes, approximately four months old. They are friendly with people, kids, and other dogs, but we’re not yet sure how they feel about cats. All four are underweight and will need some extra love and care to help them grow strong and healthy. They have short coats, no known allergies, and no bite history. As with most young rescues, we don’t yet know if they are house-trained—but we’ll learn more as soon as they arrive! These sweet girls are not yet spayed or microchipped, but that will be included in their adoption fee to ensure they are fully ready for their forever homes. Right now, we are looking for fosters to help ease their transition and keep our overall numbers at the rescue more manageable. Fostering provides them with a calm, safe space to adjust while we get to know their personalities better. We’ll be sharing updates on Rocky Road, Phish Food, Moose Tracks, and S’mores as soon as they arrive! In the meantime, send them good thoughts for safe travels—and if you’re interested in fostering or adopting, apply today! Disclaimer: Without a DNA test, the breed listed is only our best guess based on the animal’s appearance and any information we currently have.

These pups are in Richmond, Virginia too!

Story
This darling little Jack Russell boy is a young 18 month male that weighs 20 pounds and is a solid little love of a dog.  His name is Puppa-Doo and he is an owner surrender that we are seeing far too many of lately.   Who doesn't love a bright and happy to be alive Terrier pup that dances when you come home from a long day at the job.  Puppa-Doo is great family dog just waiting to fit right in when you invite him to come home with you!!!   He is housebroken and will go to door to alert you when he needs to go out. That is a huge plus in most family's check list.  He loves to chase the cat for sport and fun and he will of course do a record demolition destuffing of any weak plush toy.  Oh, how he loves to do that.  And then to keep him responding to sounds, a squeaky toy just makes his soul delight and sore to rapid panting and smiles.  He gets super excited when you play throw the squeaky toy. Puppy-Doo also will play fetch and chase if you want and that is perfect for young children who want a playful dog in their life.  At the end of the day and lots playtime, he likes to give kisses and lay on your lap. . He's a door greeter-both inside the house and when a car pulls up.  He adores love and attention and likes to sit and watch TV when you are there watching it with him. . And if you want a bed buddy then please let him crawl right up there next to you i   He is a great protector and will alert you like a doorbell would and barks when he hears a car on the gravel driveway.  All great and normal dog responsibilities that you want in your family lover and protector. And when someone shows up to visit at the house he runs circles around the outside of the house which is her own personal canine racetrack.  He is active like a JRT should be.  He is made that way.  Crate trained and housebroken and good with other dogs and kids and adults.  What more do you want in a dog and for your lifestyle.   A physically fenced yard or invisible fence would be good to have for this boy.  Safety for your family pet is so important.  If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 23, 2026, 12:30 pm

Story
This inquisitive boy with the beautiful black scruffy face and Lab-style body is ready to steal someone’s heart.  Ben is just 9 months old, weighs about 35 pounds, and will likely mature into a perfect 45–50 pound adult — the ideal “not too big, not too small” size for just about any home. Ben and his sister Jerri (yes… Ben & Jerri ) were recently rescued from a rural shelter in Tennessee after being removed from a severely neglected situation where too many animals and too little food were the norm. What’s remarkable is that you would never know it. There is no fearfulness, no shutdown behavior, no emotional baggage — just a happy, bright, affectionate boy puppy who is thrilled to finally be noticed. Ben absolutely craves personal attention, and when you give it to him, he is so very happy and giddy almost. He is eager to please, highly food motivated, and going to be a dream to train. He’s already walking nicely on leash despite having almost no prior experience, which speaks volumes about her intelligence and willingness to learn. He’s playful, affectionate, and soaking up structure and routine like a sponge.   His look is unforgettable.  He has that wiry, scruffy coat you can’t stop petting, with adorable chin whiskers that give him a touch of Irish Wolfhound charm. When the sun hits his sleek black coat, it shines beautifully. He’s the kind of dog people stop and ask about. Ben is working on crate training and is mostly housebroken with only the occasional puppy mishap — all part of adjusting to a new life filled with stability and love. His future is incredibly bright. All he needs now is someone to choose him.  What does he promise in return? Loyalty. Gratitude. A whole-hearted kind of love that only a rescued dog can give. If you’re ready to give Ben the forever home he deserves, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to tell us where you live when inquiring. We adopt to Tennessee residents and also transport to the northeastern corridor of states.  Ben is ready and waiting..   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 28, 2026, 11:20 pm

Story
There’s something so special about Shania — something that can’t quite be captured in a photo. At just 9 months old and 12 pounds, this Parsons Terrier/Westie mix has already been through more than most dogs her age, yet she radiates quiet hope and sweetness. When you first meet her, she may hang back a little, unsure of what to expect. But once she realizes you’re kind, she softens — her tail gives a shy wag, and her eyes begin to sparkle. You can almost see her heart opening up as she learns to trust. That’s Shania’s magic — she doesn’t just love; she chooses you, one gentle moment at a time. Shania loves other dogs and would thrive in a home where she can have a friendly canine companion or calm human friends to help her continue to blossom. She’d do best with older children or adults, as younger ones have been unkind to her in the past. She deserves a peaceful, loving home where she can feel safe and cherished. She’s fully vetted, spayed, and ready to begin her new life — one filled with kindness, stability, and love. Shania’s foster family says everyone who meets her is captivated by her tender personality and soulful spirit. This little treasure is ready to start fresh and discover what it feels like to be truly loved. If you can give her that gift, she’ll return it tenfold. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to learn more about adopting Shania. She’s in Tennessee and can travel north on one of our weekend transports. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 6, 2026, 1:17 am
