Story
Storm is a stunning 2½-year-old seal point Siamese with piercing blue eyes and a gentle heart. He has been living as an office kitty for the past couple of months, and in that time we’ve gotten to know him extremely well — better than most cats who pass through our doors. Storm was recently adopted but unfortunately returned when the adjustment period proved more than his adopter expected. Storm is a cat who truly needs time, patience, and understanding. In his new home he hid in the bathroom at first, and when he felt comfortable enough to explore he had some potty accidents on soft items like a bathmat, couch, and bed. Back in his familiar office space, Storm settled immediately. He has had zero accidents here — but it’s important to know that his environment is very simple: no bathmats, couches, or beds, and few soft surfaces for a nervous cat to claim. What this tells us is that Storm is not an “inappropriate urinator” by nature — he simply needs a thoughtful setup during his transition, with safe spaces, limited access at first, and soft things put away until he feels secure. Since his return, Storm has actually become more confident and social. He greets us with rumbling purrs, meows, and a weaving through your legs for attention behavior that is a bit of a trip hazard. He’s still a bit awkward with people and easily startled, but he’s more willing to come forward and seek affection. He also loves watching the foster kittens… even if they aren’t always sure what to make of him. His social cues can be a little quirky, but we believe a calm, friendly resident cat could help him blossom. Storm isn’t the kind of cat who walks into a home ready to cuddle, but once he trusts you, he shows an incredibly sweet, loyal side. If you’re someone who understands shy or anxious cats and you want to help a gentle soul feel safe in the world, Storm may be the perfect match for you. Please contact randi@spokanimal.org for more info or to come and meet him!
