Story
Meet Duke, a handsome boy who enjoys the simple things in life: a good walk, a few bum scratches, and spending time with his favourite people.Duke may come across as independent at times, but he has shown a sweet and affectionate side while in our care. He was quick to make friends with staff and happily solicited attention, leaning in for pets and offering his signature bum for scratches whenever he could.Duke walks beautifully on leash and enjoys getting out to explore the world alongside his people. He has a moderate energy level and appreciates both activity and downtime, making him a wonderful companion for someone looking for a dog to share daily adventures with.A little bit about Duke:Kids: No children in the home due to a history of resource guarding.Cats/Small Animals: Lived successfully with farm cats but has shown a strong prey drive toward other small animals. No cats or small animals in the home.Dogs: Has lived with other dogs but has a history of altercations with another male dog and generally prefers his own space. No dogs in the home.

Story
Karma can go home on or after June 13, following her spay, but she can have visits now!Karma is a big, easy going girl! She`s the sort of pup that can entertain herself independently, but that doesn`t mean she`ll turn down a cuddle from her humans! Karma is a firm believer that dogs DO belong on furniture, and she`ll happily climb onto the couch and lean into her humans for some good scritches. Karma has previously lived with dogs and cats, and may do well with your resident pets. She previously lived on a farm, and is confident exploring the outdoors, and then heading inside to show off her great house manners! If your ideal pup is a relaxed, independent girl who enjoys long sniff walks and does well with other animals, then Karma could be a perfect choice!A bit about Karma:- limited history with kids; all interactions should be supervised; older children recommended- has lived with cats; slow, supervised introductions required- has lived with dogs; dogs okay pending successful introduction

Story
Layla is a striking, sensitive dog who is beginning her journey toward understanding what life in a home can look like. She is currently looking for a very patient, experienced adopter who can help her continue building confidence at her own pace.In the shelter environment, Layla has shown that she can be cautious and slow to warm up to new people and situations. She has had moments where she prefers space and needs time to process what is happening around her, especially in busy or unfamiliar settings. At times, when feeling overwhelmed, she may communicate her discomfort through clear body language and a need for distance.Once given the opportunity to move at her own speed, Layla has shown that she can engage with her environment and explore more comfortably, especially when she feels safe and unpressured. Her behaviour suggests a dog who is still learning how to navigate social interaction and trust in new settings.Layla will do best in a calm, adult-only home that understands canine body language. She is not suited for a home with other dogs or cats at this time, and a quieter environment outside of busy urban settings may help set her up for success. While Layla is still a work in progress, she has the potential to grow with the right support, structure, and understanding. For someone experienced and compassionate, she offers the opportunity to help a dog truly learn that the world can be a safe place.A little bit about Layla:-Kids: No experience with children. Recommend an adult only home.-Cats/Small Animals: No experience with cats or small animals. Recommend no cats or small animals in the home.-Dogs: Limited exposure to other dogs. Recommend only dog in the home.

Sandy is a beautiful, calm, gentle giant! She`s settled into our shelter well and enjoys soft pets and relaxed sniffing sessions. Sandy has always been an acreage dog - her breed and history suggests she would thrive as an outdoor dog with a family who can give her space to explore and learn at her own pace.Sandy may also do well in a quiet neighbourhood with easy access to a fenced yard. She will need patience as she navigates the in and outs of indoor living such as house training, leashed walks and car rides. She could make a wonderful companion for someone who understands that Sandy needs to move at her own pace.
