Story
Hello! I am Rocco! I am a 5 year old Saint Bernard, Golden Retriever Mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Playful, extroverted, and Snuggly Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a big man with the heart to match! I love butt scratches and I will swing around to get in the prime position for them! I love fetch and could play with soft toys forever. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I am housetrained however there may be a couple of accidents as I transition into a new home and get used to new routine! I should do well in a home: I would do well in a home with cats given proper introductions and time to adjust. I love kids so I would appreciate having them in my forever home, but its not required, with proper supervision as I am a big guy and may knock them over. I am not a fan of other dogs so I would need to be the only pup in my forever home. My favorite activities are: I LOVE BUTT SCRATCHES! I also love chasing toys and playing tug a war. Things I need work on are: Leash walking as I do pull a bit. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
These two adorable girls are ready to find their forever homes! Born on 12/17/25, this unique duo is a mix of Saint Bernedoodle and Sheepadoodlebasically extra fluffy, extra lovable, and full of personality. They came from an oops litter, and while all of their siblings were sold, these two were left behind. We couldnt let that be their story, so we stepped in to make sure they get the happy endings they deserve. They are typical doodle puppiesplayful, social, and always up for fun. Theyre currently working on their manners and potty training, so their future families should be prepared to continue that training and provide consistency. With a little guidance, theyre going to grow into incredible companions. While they get along well, they will not be adopted together and are expected to thrive in separate homes where they can build confidence and bond individually with their families. Adoption Fee: $800 eachThis includes spay (at our vet), microchip, current vaccines/boosters, and deworming. Please apply at thecharlieprojectdogrescue.com. Story
Meet Smalls, ironically given the name for his gigantic size. This giant goof came in as a stray, December of 2025, from the Town of Farmington. He was shy at first, but loved having an emotional support stuffy to carry in his mouth. He started exhibiting some of his colorful personality, but after a short while with us we learned that he has some anxiety, maybe triggered by the noises of the other dogs in the shelter. He seemed especially triggered by puppies crying. We started him on some medication that would sooth his anxiety. He is not good with small dogs or cats.We felt Smalls was coping well until March of 2026 when staff noticed that one of his back legs was suddenly swollen and he was losing weight. He was diagnosed with a quickly progressing case of cellulitis, requiring urgent treatment. The HSWC medical team got to work, making him comfortable, treating his cellulitis with antibiotics and bandaging his foot. We will spare you the gory details, but Smalls’ foot was in rough shape after the first week. We were very concerned about his chances of a good outcome for Smalls due to the damage the infection had done to his tissues and it was difficult keeping him from ripping his bandages off. Every type of cone was employed! Luckily for us and Smalls, he’s been a wonderful patient. After a few weeks of daily bandage changes (sometimes twice a day), he’s made a fabulous turn around and started feeling better… a lot better. His wound and bandage is much smaller and only takes a stuffed animal and one person to change his bandage, he’s eating really well again and has starting putting weight back on. Now, Smalls has a huge request… he really needs a foster home that is near Waupaca so we can provide follow-up wound care. Though he loves living at the clinic, he’s almost too big for our biggest kennel in that building. We are keeping him over there to keep his stress levels lower, but it’s not an ideal situation. Additionally, he would require a foster home with no other pets, fenced in area or someone who could comfortably walk a giant pooch. He does do well with children, but he’s is very unaware of how large he is and may knock down little kids. Smalls does still require daily to every other day bandage changes depending how dirty it is. If you’re interested in fostering and/or eventually adopting Smalls, please fill out an adoption/foster application!
