Story
Ruby is named Ruby because Scaredy-cat is just a stupid name. She is sweet and gentle until something scares her, then she jumps. She’s good on a leash until something startles her, then she pulls…. And she’s strong. She’s a beautiful girl. Loving and gentle, loves attention but hates excitement. She’s not a guard dog, she’ll hide behind you in the threat of great danger, or if a butterfly scares her. Quiet, soft, and sweet Ruby, she wants to be right at your feet. This dog is sheltered in a foster based, nonprofit rescue. The Adoption Fee ($225 local, $525 transport) Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. Story
Baron was found nearly decapitated, with a very deep laceration around the entirety of his neck and throat, the deepest area around his throat. The photos of his injury are simply too graphic to share. The emergency vet believes that he was only alive due to the maggots that were keeping the infection from getting worse. He was emaciated and obviously not cared for. We don't know what happed to his neck but criminal charges were filed against his owner. Upon picking up and heading to the emergency vet, he was nothing but sweet. His tail wagging and just wanting to be close and be petted. There were no words, only tears. He spent weeks in emergency care with his neck being cleaned multiple times a day, on IV pain meds and antibiotics before the wound could finally be closed. Everyone on the emergency staff adored him and couldn't say enough about how amazing he was. When he was finally able to leave there was a goodbye party for him, he made quite an impression on everyone. Baron loves hard and plays hard...and does it all with an adorable underbite! He absolutely loves to cuddle up with his people and then play hard with his canine companions. Baron would do best with another welcoming dog in his new home, but has not been tested with cats. Baron is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Baron is fostered in GA and will be attending our Adoption Event. Save time, fill out an Application to be preapproved to adopt at our event. Preapproved adopters may schedule appointments to meet dogs on Friday, May 17th. Our pets are in CT, GA and PA foster homes. Dogs in PA may be able to come to CT prior to the event to meet adopters. Dogs in GA will arrive right before the event so you must come to the event to meet them. Fill out an online application to start the adoption process. Story
Meet Stevie!! He loves people and would likely do well with sturdy kids. He will need his walks but a fence is not required. He pulls on leash, but since he has been added to Handsome Dan's Rescue's Shelter Dog Enrichment program his dedicated volunteer Judie is working on that with Stevie. We are still unsure how he will be with other dogs, but I select he might do well with a playmate. He's a big powerful baby, wiggly, goofy, snuggly, and wishes to be a lap dog, despite his size. Questions: HDRJudie@gmail.com To apply, please contact North Attleboro shelter directly at jpetraitis@nattleboro.com Thank you for choosing rescue!
