Story
Meet Mia, a beautiful 2-year-old black Standard Poodle with a gentle heart and lots of love to give. Mia is a sweet girl who can be a little shy at first, especially around men, but she warms up quickly and becomes a loving, loyal companion once she feels safe.Because of her size and energy, older kids would be best, and she does well with children who understand how to be respectful of a large dog. Mia is housebroken, walks well on a leash, and enjoys spending time with her people. As a Standard Poodle, Mia has lots of energy and will thrive in an active home that can provide daily exercise and mental stimulation. She will also need regular professional grooming about every 4 weeks to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. If you’re looking for an intelligent, affectionate dog who just needs a little patience and consistency to shine, Mia could be the perfect addition to your family. To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy was surrendered by her owner to another rescue and and then we were asked if we could take her in, so that’s how she came to us! Poppy is a Poodle mix with the more wavy fur. She was born around May 2025 and currently weighs 35 pounds. She has been fully vetted and is ready to find her FURever family. She has been good in the house and seems kennel trained, but always expected accidents during the transition period. She occasionally will chew, but she’s still a pup. If you redirect her to chew on HER toys, that helps. She does know a few basic commands as well. She seems to have been mistreated at some point because she can be “hand shy” at first. Once she realizes you mean no harm, she comes around and is so sweet. She definitely will need another dog to play with (close to her size). That seemed to help her come out of shell pretty quick here. Calm kids should be fine as well. She loves playing and running in the fenced yard with her other dog friends here! So she MUST have a fence to play/potty in (not to live in). I will say car rides are definitely not a favorite of hers and she tends to get a little car sick and drools. I am hoping with time, she will feel better about car rides, just bring some towels. lol The adoption fee is $300 Which covers spay/neuter, shots, microchip, heartworm test, grooming (if needed), deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and supplies while in our care. The pet MUST be kept on heartworm prevention all of their life. *PLEASE NOTE* Some of the FURkids may have a higher fee than others, to help balance the costs to cover other FURkids needs as well. To apply to adopt go to our website www.fureverfurkids.com *We do home checks (either in person or virtual) for each pet before approving an adoption. Home owners and those a fenced in yard are always given preference.* The application is to be completed prior to meeting the pet(s) you are interested in adopting. If they are still on the page, they are still more than likely still available. Once a pet is adopted from our rescue, they MUST be returned to us, if you cannot keep them. If you plan on not keeping them their whole lives, please do not apply. Thank you for looking at our rescues in need of amazing homes!

Story
A SWEET & HANDSOME FELLOW:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 54 lbs. Hi, my name is Luka!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with a very overgrown coat.  It was tightly tangled and caused a good bit of pain as a result, so I had to be completely shaved down.  I also developed happy tail, so my tail has been docked and I’m no longer in pain from that.  Thanks to lots of good veterinary and volunteer care and kindness, I’m feeling so much better now!  I’ll need regular grooming to keep my coat in good shape and that is a bit costly for a dog my size, so make sure you’re prepared to have me regularly groomed. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and was interested in them, though not quite ready to play, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers or very young kids that I may bump over as I’m a bit jumpy right now. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet, wonderful, and very nice boy who might be a little shy when it comes to photos, but my true personality shines once I feel comfortable.  I did great at the vet after being shaved - they even sent a video of me soaking up all the rubs and loving every minute of it.  Right now, I’m on a couple of anxiety medications due to the stress of the shelter and the pain I was in, but with a nice loving home, I believe I’ll be able to wean off them once I’m settled in. / Energy level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  I’m working on my leash manners as I do pull a lot currently.  I also seem to have a learned behavior of turning around and jumping on people as well as jumping and hugging them, so my trainer is working with me to help me un-learn these.  Check back soon to see how it’s going. / The crate is not my favorite place, so I hope to not have to spend much time in it in my new home. / I have had good potty manners on the shelter schedule, so yay me! • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love soaking up pets, working with my trainer and spending time with the nice volunteers - and I’m sure we’ll discover plenty of other things to enjoy together, too. / I haven’t shown any dislikes since being properly groomed, but like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’m on 2 medications for shelter stress that I think I’ll be about to wean off of once I’m settled in my new home.  I get a soothing Oatmeal bath weekly, and this can be done in my new home.  I’m also on a medication for my skin/itching since my fur was so tight and I think I’ll be able to come off of that as well given a little time.     I’m a great dog looking for a great home and family to love that will take great care of me!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 5, 2026, 4:25 pm

Story
A HANDSOME & WONDERFUL BOY:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 60 lbs.  Hi, my name is Alastair! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control in pretty rough shape - I was so badly matted that I had to be completely shaved down, and I was underweight, too.  Thanks to lots of good care, good food, and kindness, I’ve gained healthy weight and I’m feeling great now!  I’ll need regular grooming to keep my coat in good shape and that is a bit costly for a dog my size, so make sure you’re prepared to have me regularly groomed.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a sweet, friendly, happy, and gentle boy - truly the sweetest, a gentle giant with a big heart.  I was an absolute gentleman during my bath, staying calm and sweet and even lifting my paws nicely for rinsing.  Everyone loves me and I’m sure you will, too. / Energy Level: 4-6.        • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands and I greet friendly strangers without jumping on them.  I’m a strong guy who does pull on my leash, so I’m working on that now. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’m doing well with my potty manners and have had very few accidents on the shelter schedule.     • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love hugs, playing with toys, and spending time with the nice volunteers - and I’m sure we’ll discover plenty of other things to enjoy together, too. / I can’t think of any dislikes though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a great family that will love me and take great care of me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 5, 2026, 4:25 pm

Story
Say HELLO to Maverick! Mavvy, as he is affectionately called, is the ultimate Standard Poodle! Smart, active, loving, loyal, and a touch stubborn….just like any self respecting Standard Poodle should be!  Maverick is just over 2 years old and about 60 lbs. He’s great with dogs of all sizes, house trained, and crate trained. He’s looking for a tried and true Standard Poodle family who loves a good Velcro dog. This boy loves to be right by his person’s side - he gives the best hugs! Mavvy’s favorite time of day is bedtime because that means he gets to cuddle up in bed next to his person all night long - sleeping in bed is non-negotiable as far as Maverick is concerned. Maverick does also need a home with a fenced yard. Are you a Standard Poodle person looking for your new BFF? Then head on over to rmgdogs.org for more info on how to adopt sweet Maverick. Or email adrienne@rescuemega.org PLEASE NOTE: Previous first hand ownership experience with pure bred Standard Poodles is a strict requirement to adopt Maverick. To know them is to love them, but there has been a dramatic increase in the number of Standard Poodles in need to new homes due to inexperienced owners getting more than they bargained for ##2617034##
