MARKHAM, ON - SPIN was contacted about two young Standard Poodle puppies whose breeder had been unable to find homes for them as they grew older and more active. Situations like this are never easy to ignore, and thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and foster homes, we were able to welcome Neve and her sister into rescue and give them the opportunity to begin their lives as cherished family dogs. Neve quickly settled into foster care and has been busy learning what life in a home is all about — and, as her foster family will happily tell you, she is embracing puppyhood with enthusiasm. She tries very hard to be a good girl, but sometimes the world is simply too exciting and puppy shenanigans win out. Smart, curious, affectionate, and wonderfully determined, Neve is the kind of puppy who throws herself fully into life and keeps her people smiling (and occasionally exhausted!). Like many young dogs who had a quieter start, Neve is still building confidence in certain situations such as new doorways and car rides. With guidance, structure, and positive training, her exceptional temperament is already shining through — and her foster family firmly believes that the lucky family who adopts Neve will feel like they’ve won the lottery.

Story
BURNSTOWN, ON SPIN was contacted about two young Standard Poodle puppies who needed somewhere to go. Their breeder had been unable to find homes for them and felt they were becoming too much to manage as they grew older. As often happens in rescue, a call like that can be hard to ignore — and thanks to the generosity of our incredible volunteers, we were able to step in and help. Eira and her sister quickly settled into foster care, where they began learning what life in a home is all about. Like many puppies who have had a quieter start to life, Eira is still discovering the world and building confidence in new situations. With the support of her foster family, she is already making progress and showing us the sweet, loving, and occasionally saucy little personality that is emerging as she becomes more comfortable.

Lionel’s life started in a loving home, but big changes left him without the stability he needed. His family circumstances changed and he (and his dog and cat siblings) found himself looking for a new home. At just four years old, Lionel found himself scared and unsure, suddenly needing to learn a whole new way of living. This big, goofy boy had grown up in a rural home without much exposure to strangers, new dogs, or busy environments. That lack of early socialization left him feeling overwhelmed when he first came into our care. But with patience, gentle handling, and the support of an experienced foster home, Lionel has begun to blossom. His true self—smart, affectionate, and just a little silly—shines brighter every day

Tundra feels the world intensely — and when she feels safe, she is incredibly sweet and loyal. She may not be the easiest dog — but she is an honest one. Thank you for your interest in River. River came to us from an owner who got him from somewhere in the USA. He arrived so fearful that the owner didn't really know what to do with him so he, and another dog, were kept in a shed with an attached yard. The owner didn't interact with them much and River thought that was absolutely fine. People are scary, the world is scary and he was comfortable in his little part of the world. Well, things changed the day River came to SPIN.
