Story
Meet Sam, a charming Standard Poodle who is 2 years old and grapples with anxiety. Despite his anxiety, he possesses wonderful qualities, is neutered, and stays current on vaccinations. However, finding the perfect home for him is crucial. Sam's owner has provided two detailed pages of information that would greatly benefit anyone considering adoption. Sam is fond of the company of other dogs and requires a home with a yard. Ideally, he would thrive in an environment without young children. Patience is key! If you are interested, please apply or send a message.May 9, 2024, 3:22 pm

Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKES 5/7/2024:   Lana and Orlana - females - approx DOB 2/27/2024 - Lana 9.14 pounds Orlana 8.8 pounds Poodles or some type of doodle.  We don't think they are Standard Poodles because they should be about 16-20 pounds at 10 weeks old.  They could be some type of doodle.   Reason for intake:  UGH!  These poor girls would not be here right now if not for the fast action of a homeowner and Caddo Parish Animal Services!  A homeowner was headed to bring in her trash can from the curb when she heard thumping coming from within.  She opened the can to find two puppies seizing.  She contacted animal control immediately and they came out.  They plucked the pups from the can and the director of animal services reached out for rescue help and we took them in and sent them straight to the vet.  It was touch and go for several hours but our vet and vet staff did an amazing job at addressing the symptoms quickly... even so much as putting them on a valium drip to keep them still as the other medications did their job.  Our vet believes that it was some type of toxin in their bodies.  In theory, it's believed that someone intentionally or unintentionally poisoned the pups and then dumped them in a random trash can.  When there is so much help available to people nowadays with social media...  they could've gotten help. To throw two LIVE puppies in a trash can to die a slow agonizing death... it's just unforgiveable.  Unfortunately, animal control indicated in the location where they were found... there was no camera footage.  We so wish the person who did this could've been held accountable.   Lana and Orlana are now at our rescue.  The seizures caused blindness in both puppies.  Lana's eyesight is almost completely recovered.  Orlana's is slowly coming back but she was in the worst shape.  They will be heading soon to be groomed... and we will post them for adoption once we know for sure they are fully recovered.  Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
