Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. About Me: Name: Waverly Breed (or best guess): Poodle or Doodle Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 23 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Patient family, fenced yard Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Waverly came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a little shy but okay with being handled.  She needs work on walking on a leash, so needs a fenced yard for her safety .  She gets along with other dogs, but will likely do fine as an only dog as well.  She is quiet when kenneled alone, but when she shares a kennel run with other dogs she tends to bark.  If you have the patience to help her learn about living the good life as a loved pet, she may be the perfect girl for you! Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. Hi, I'm Mister! My world has been pretty small up until now. I came to the shelter after my owner passed away, and before that I didn't get much chance to experience... well, life. But I am learning new things and getting more confident every day! My resilience is truly amazing! I've lived with another dog before and loved her, but meeting new dogs can still feel a little overwhelming for me right now. Because of that, I think I would prefer a home with only female dogs, if any. I would do well with respectful kids who understand I'm still figuring things out. I'm a sweet, affectionate guy who enjoys attention, but I'm also perfectly content doing my own thing and taking in the world at my own pace. Everything is new to me, and I'm looking for someone who will help me keep building confidence and show me just how good life can be! Sally sometimes lays in her crate, it mostly enjoys lounging around anywhere near you. She will love to cuddle in bed with you if you let her. Sally is great with dogs, excellent with kids of ALL ages including newborns and toddlers. She hasn't been around cats but I think she'd probably love any friends furry or not. Sally is not accustomed to a fenced in yard, but she is often taken out to go potty off leash if she is taught her limitations. She LOVES the outdoors where she can run and play, rain, snow, or sunshine! Sally likes being taught new tricks, playtime, cuddles, lots of attention! She likes walks, playing with kids and other furry friends, and being the center of attention. Sally does NOT like car rides, she gets car sick. She does not like being alone. She prefers to be your best companion and she is by far the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. Sally's ONLY fault is she loves to jump up on people and bark when she's excited.
