Story
Luka is a two to three year old poodle, schnauzer mix who came to NJ from Georgia from a closed down puppy mill. He is approx ten lbs. Luka loves to play with other dogs running around and wrestling with toys. He gets over stimulated by too much human activity so a quiet household, preferably adult only, is best. He seems to prefer females. He is getting use to being held and pampered. Being a resident of a puppy mill did not allow Luka to learn to trust humans. Luka loves to take walks and wander around his foster home's fenced backyard. A fenced yard is required. Luka needs reinforcement with house training which has been difficult with the current freezing and icy weather. If you would like to learn more about Luka, please fill out an application at bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ollie: The Tilted-Head HeartthrobOllie is a 3-year-old mini-Schnauzer who proves that being different is downright adorable. Found in a shelter, his past is a mystery—but his future is all about love, belly rubs, and squeaky toys. He rocks a signature head tilt (likely from a past head injury), and honestly, it just makes him look like he’s permanently curious about your life choices. Spoiler: he approves of them all. Ollie may have some very minor visual deficiencies most likely due to that same head injury but our veterinary partner doesn't see any issues with daily living.  This happy, handsome guy is basically the definition of good vibes. We know he once had a fabulous life as he was decked out in a fancy creative haircut when he was taken into a shelter. He’s great with people, loves hanging out with other dogs, and has mastered the art of looking like the star of every TikTok trend. Ollie doesn’t let anything stop him—he’s too busy spreading joy, wagging his tail, and posing like a canine influencer. Ready to add a little extra tilt to your world? Apply online to adopt Ollie at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. . Because life’s better when you see it from Ollie’s angle. Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Ollie (GA) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 4, 2026, 12:48 am

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Sweet 5m old Frida from Puerto Rico.   Meet Frida - Looking for a true best friend to share life’s everyday moments with? Frida is your best friend in the making—one who will happily enjoy your day-to-day activities right by your side. She has a calm, soothing demeanor that can easily melt away a bad day, while still being endlessly loving and affectionate. Frida comes from Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, and we’re told she’s a Schnauzer mix, approximately 4–5 months old. She adores snuggling up beside her human friends and will happily curl up next to her four-legged pals too—if they allow her, of course. She’s super playful and loves to prance around, spreading joy wherever she goes. Frida does great with kids, other dogs, and other animals, making her a wonderful addition to many types of families. So go ahead—take a chance on Frida. Just like ABBA sings, if you need her, she’ll be around, ready to do her very best and love you with her whole heart.         All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
