Story
Meet Sherman! Sherman is a schnauzer mix who came to our center when his owner went into a nursing home in Puerto Rico. He hasn’t had much socialization or human interaction until this past week when he’s been in a foster home in Virginia Beach. He really enjoys being with other dogs, especially balanced, confident dogs that help him feel more secure.  Sherman is learning how to trust people and will require patience on his journey. He has a lot of love to give the right family and has never shown any aggressive behavior. Sherman is around a year old, 22 pounds and neutered. He is housebroken and working on crate training. If you feel Sherman could be a great addition to your family, please submit an application.  Complete one of our online adoption applications today! Story
Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Jock was originally adopted from a rescue located in Alabama.  When he proved to be too active for the adopter's two senior dogs, they asked if Mutt Love would find him a loving home and of course we said yes.  We communicated with the original rescue to confirm they were okay with us taking Jock under our rescue.  Jock is about two years old and weighs about 23 pounds.  He is very friendly and sweet, likes other dogs, cats are unknown.  Jock does have a hearing impairment where he can hear certains tones, but it doesn't seem to slow him down.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Upcoming adoption events:   Saturday May 3rd 12 - 3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 11135 Lee Highway; Fairfax     Saturday May 10th 12 - 4 pm Eavesdrop Brewery; 7285 Centreville Rd. Manassas, VA      Saturday May 17th 12-3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 11135 Lee Highway; Fairfax     Saturday May 24th 12 - 3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 2280 Hunnters Wood Plaza; Reston       We are always desperate for foster homes, now more than ever. Story
Alfie is a 6-month-old Schnauzer mix with enough energy to power a small village, and enough love to fill your entire house. This 40-ish-pound blur of scruffy, bearded floof came to us after his last human couldn’t keep up with his zooms, and now he’s lighting up our shelter… but he deserves so much more.Puppies just don’t belong in shelters. They need play. They need cuddles. They need YOU.And while we do our best, we can’t give Alfie what he truly needs: a home.Right now, Alfie is all jumpy, mouthy, bouncy excitement when he comes out of his kennel -- not because he's wild, but because he's desperately lonely -- a brilliant little brain and huge little heart stuck in a kennel all day. But spend just a little time with him, and the chaos melts into sweetness. He softens. He leans into you. He listens. He learns. He already knows how to sit and wait for treats like a seasoned pro, he politely shakes hands (learned that trick in under two seconds!), and he’s fantastic in the car. Training? He loves it. Alfie lights up when he knows he’s done something right. All he wants is someone to show him the way.Alfie is looking for:- A person or family who loves to move, play, and teach- A life full of walks, toys, snuggles, and celebration- A gentle, patient guide to help him become the incredible dog he’s meant to be***A quick note to families: Alfie is teething, and like all pups, his mouth is currently the lens through which he explores life. That includes hands, sleeves, zippers, noses... you get it. For that reason, we will not show Alfie to children under 5-years-old. Let Alfie light up your life at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.We’re open 9am to noon every day, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
