Not good with kids,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Milo! Milo is a handsome, four-year-old, Schnauzer/Chihuahua mix. Milo definitely does not appreciate the energy, noise and invasiveness of children. When he gets stressed out, he will snap to be left alone. Milo was surrendered to us with a bite history, so we sent him on to Camp Merricks to be evaluated and get some behavior adjustment. Milo is being a very good boy at Camp. He has structure and lots of time to play. He loves his crate and readily goes into it for safe space. We highly recommend whoever adopts this boy have a nice, cozy crate for him. He seeks out attention and wants to be petted, and likes toys. Milo's perfect home will be fairly quiet, without a lot of people coming and going all the time. He doesn't mind meeting new people, as long as they give him space and let him decide he is ready to meet. Definitely no kids though, since Milo's history with children is not good. Milo is very good with dogs of all sizes. He loves to play and has appropriate canine communication skills. He runs around in the large yards at Camp exploring and playing. If you have another dog, we will require a meet and greet with that dog at Camp. If you think you might have the right stuff to give Milo a home put in an application so we can set up a time for you to meet him at Camp Merricks.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    July 8, 2026, 7:46 am

Story
Hi! This is blackjack, I’ve had him for 2 years but with so much changing recently with life and work I feel I don’t have the time for him that he needs so I want to re-home him. He's free as long as he goes to a good family/person. I think he’d benefit well with an open area to run in. He gets anxious around a lot of people and he does take a little bit to warm up he’s always been very skittish and defensive around new people but I feel like that’s because I don’t have the time to spend with him like I want to. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. My number is (xxx) xxx-xxxx

Story
Rex is 11 years young! Don`t let his age fool you this senior schnauzer mix has a zest for life and he loves to tell you all about it! Rex was surrendered due to no fault of his own and unfortunate circumstances but has found his safe landing pad here at the VBSPCA. Rex was in need a good shave down, nail trim, mass removal, neuter and a dental! We have since taken care of all of those things and Rex is feeling better than ever! He is ready to find his forever family! Rex has lived with kids and other animals and is said to do well with cats. We recommend slow introductions with all new people and animals. We will require children in the home be 10 and up and any resident canines come and visit to make sure everyone gets along. Rex has done very well with other dogs similar in size and activity level and still enjoys a good romp and tussle every now and again. If you would like to meet Rex or have more questions please speak with our kennel team who will be happy to help!
