Story
Meet Murphy! Don't let the "senior" label fool you....Murphy still has plenty of pep in his step. This handsome Schnauzer loves a good game of fetch and has a fun, moderate energy level. Once he's had some playtime, he's more than happy to kick back and enjoy some quality time with his people. He's very affectionate and likes to snuggle. Murphy recently came to Worthy Dog Rescue after his longtime owner made the hard decision to surrender him. After a separation, he found himself working two jobs and preparing to move to housing that wasn't dog-friendly. Knowing Murphy deserved more time, attention, and stability than he could provide, he made the decision to let him start a new chapter. Thankfully, Murphy landed with one of our amazing new foster families who stepped up to welcome him into their home. Like many dogs, he was understandably anxious after losing the only family he'd ever known. With patience, love, and treatment for a painful ear infection, Murphy quickly regained his confidence, and his happy, well-balanced personality began to shine through. Murphy has integrated well with his foster family's resident dog. While he's perfectly happy sharing a home with another dog, he's much more interested in his humans than his canine companions. He'd do well as an only dog, soaking up all the attention or with another easygoing dog who respects his space. Chi describes Murphy as a confident, affectionate companion who enjoys being close to his people. Whether he's asking you to throw the ball one more time or curling up beside you to watch TV, he's happiest when he's part of the action. He can be a little skittish about strangers reaching for the top of his head, so he appreciates a gentle introduction and a little time to warm up. He's both potty trained and crate trained, sleeping comfortably in his crate at night and while home alone. He walks well on leash overall, although squirrels definitely capture his attention! Fortunately, he's not reactive to other dogs or people and enjoys getting out to explore.Like many Schnauzers, he'll let you know when someone is at the door, but once visitors come inside, he's a friendly gentleman who enjoys meeting new people.  Murphy isn't looking for perfection; he needs a family who will embrace his fun-loving personality and continue working with him on a few manners like leash walking, jumping, and attention barking. In return, you'll get a loyal, entertaining companion who's ready to make up for lost time and enjoy the life he deserves. If your idea of a perfect day includes brisk walks, games of fetch, and a devoted sidekick by your side, Murphy may be the perfect match. ❤️ BEED ESTIMATE: Schnauzer Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 15 lbs (needs to gain 2 lbs) APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 9 to 10 years old COAT TYPE: medium-length, low-shedding coat that needs regular grooming.  ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Rockville, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young sato seeking happily ever after! TOVA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!Come meet Tova and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (8/23) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Tova         Best Guess for Breed:   Schnauzer and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of July 2026          SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:  26 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! She isn't recommended for homes with cats because she will bark at them.    Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she  can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.Tova is Looking For: Her forever home! Tova is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. She did an amazing job raising her babies Tux, Tiny, Tyna, Tilly, Travis, Troy & Trixie and they all are off to get their own homes. Tova is in her prime as a young dog and hasn't seen enough of the world - she's eager to get her own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures her family can dream up. Making pup pals along the way would be great, as would going to dog school so she can show how super smart she is.Most of all, though, she wants to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved all her days. In exchange she promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Can you see her by your sideWhat My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent time in foster care. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Gingersnap and some other scruffy cuties that look just like her landed in the shelter. They all are sweet - but scared. Gingersnap hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet so she's both uncertain and scared in new places - AND she is eager to make up for lost time!   She'd like her own humans for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration.
