Story
He was meowing at me from across the street. I was working with homeowners in the area. I fed him some shrimp from my Chinese food because he was skin and bones. He politely devoured it and winked at me to say ty! I came back later to the same street and he was there again. Thus time I spoke with the "owners" of the cat. They told me he was knee an inside cat and they had him declawed in the front and neutered. (That explained why he was skin and bones! A declawed cat cannot survive outdoors!) The rest is history. I took him home and nurtured him to health. He is a super loving cat. He is also a scaredy cat. He is somewhat afraid of heights or just being held. Maybe from early trauma...

Story
Caesar and her cousin Timothy have been with us since they were born in June of 2021. They’ve been inside cats the whole time, and they’re super lovable and playful. Timothy is chill and lazy and Caesar is independent and sweet. They should stay together as a pair, since they’ve been together the whole time. If you can take both cats, the total cost is $50. If you can only take one cat, the cost is $50.

Story
Ajani was a part of a barn cat litter with two other sisters. He has since been separated from them, but he bonds quickly to other cats. He is about 2 years old now, but all shots are up to date and health is good. He's been neutered and still has his front claws. Ajani is a very cuddly cat and extremely vocal. If you like having someone to talk to, he holds great conversations. Ajani is a very sweet cat, always looking for pets, and is overall a great shadow to have follow you around the house.

Story
This expert baker is a 9-year-old sweetheart who just lost her owner. She is being cared for now by two people that want her to have a good home, but cannot keep her long term. She loves her lazy spots in front of sunny windows or on cozy chairs, and grows friendlier the longer you know her. Admittedly, she may need to go on a bit of a low-fat cat-chow, but it's just more of her to love! There is no adoption fee for this pet. However, if you should choose, any donation amount to Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN is much appreciated!

Story
Hi! I’m Sanje, and yes... I do have a little bit of that famous orange cat energy.Life is just more fun when you're on an adventure! Whether I'm chasing toys, zooming around my condo, or convincing my roommates that we should all play together, I like to keep things interesting. Don't worry though—my chaos is the fun kind. The best part? I love other cats! I get along with everyone in my condo, and I'm always happy to make a new friend. If there's a game of tag happening, count me in. If it's nap time, I'll happily join that too.I'm the kind of guy who's always curious about what you're doing. Is that a toy? Can I help? Is that a cardboard box? I simply must investigate. It's a very important part of my job description. At just 2 years old, I've got the perfect mix of playful energy and sweet personality. I'm always up for some fun, but at the end of the day, I just want a home where I can be my goofy, lovable self.So if you've been thinking, "You know what this house needs? A friendly orange cat who brings a little joy, a little chaos, and gets along with everyone," congratulations...You found me.– Sanje 🧡🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Story
Meet Vanta 🖤Vanta is proof that you don’t have to be loud to make an impression.Named after Vantablack, one of the deepest shades of black, this sleek little lady has mastered the art of being effortlessly cool. She’s friendly, easygoing, and perfectly content to hang out without demanding to be the center of attention.Walk over to say hi? She’s into it. Sit down nearby? She’ll happily keep you company. Offer some pets? Even better. Vanta has a calm, comfortable energy that makes being around her feel easy.At 11 months old, she’s still young, but she isn’t all chaos and curtain climbing. She’s already figured out that sometimes the best thing in life is simply finding a good spot, enjoying your people, and settling in.Vanta does well with other cats and children, while dogs are still an unknown. She’s been at the shelter for about six months, which is far too long for a girl this lovely to be waiting. If you want a cat who is sweet without being clingy, cool without trying, and always dressed for the occasion, come meet Vanta.Black goes with everything — especially your couch. 🖤An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt.
