PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Johnny I dont know if I've ever seen a more beautiful dog. Johnny is a Neapolitan Mastiff (possibly mixed?) who is about 2 years old and weighs 120 lbs. He is the sweetest, big slobbery dummy! He thinks hes a 10 lb baby and wants to sit on your lap. He is super friendly with everyone he meets, but he has no idea how big he is, so probably wouldnt be the best choice for a family with toddler size humans. He is so kind hearted and wouldn't dream of hurting anyone on purpose. Hes just big and clumsy and hasn't had any training. We are gonna work on the training part as soon as he recovers from his neuter surgery, which was done today. Johnny was found as a starving stray in Arkansas. His stray hold is long over and no one ever came forward to claim him. He had no ID and no microchip. His rescue photo, which shows the condition he was in, is attached. He holds no grudges for his past neglect and hardships. He loves and trusts everyone. Since coming into rescue, he hasn't been introduced to many other dogs, but the limited exposure he has had was positive anf he gave no indication of aggression. We will be exploring that more now that he is neutered. I believe with proper introduction, he will do fine with other non aggressive dogs. Johnny was fully vetted today and thankfully he tested negative for heartworms. He does have the very loose skin typical of Neo Mastiffs, which may require surgery later in life. As of now, our vet didn't feel it was necessary. His eyelids droop but they don't cover his eyes and he is fully visual. But as he ages, this may need to be revisited. Johnny is definitely one of a kind, and he is not a dog that is found in rescue very often. I hope he will get adopted quickly so he can start to get adjusted to his new life and family of his own. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER:  Tiny Tim “Tiny” PERSONALITY: Tiny can be on alert around people that are not regulars in the home however with some supervision and guidance he can warm up fast and become very loving. He has a bit of an “alpha” attitude and will occasionally have a low soft growl around small children. It is recommended he not be placed with any home that has pre teens or regular pack members that can over do it on attention. He is loyal and loving , he requires a lot of petting and attention. He does drool and will need help keeping his front legs cleaned often. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: He likes being around other regular pack members and will bark at anything he deems a threat including door bells. MEDICAL ISSUES: He may have allergies as his eyes often have a mucus build up in both eyes but he enjoys getting his eyes wiped. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: No pre teens or no homes with a immature personality as he does not like to be teased. A home with a lot of love to give because he cant get enough. Fill out an Adoption Application We don’t know much about what happened to Finley before coming to Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue, but it wasn’t his best life. He was loved at some point, maybe when he was a small, fluffy puppy before he grew into the handsome boy he is now, but he remembers being loved. He remembers and he yearns for the love of a family. He wants to be hugged, he wants to be included, he wants to be cared for and he’s learning that’s possible again. HISTORY: Finley was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky and put into a crate too small for him to stand up in. A local foster-based rescue pulled him and spent two months getting to know him and putting some much needed weight on him. When he was strong and healthy they contacted Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue to find him the perfect home. Finley is a one-year-old male Great Dane mix. Due to his age, he is not neutered and will not be until he’s at least eighteen months old. PERSONALITY: Finley is at the most wonderful age; old enough to be house trained and young enough to be a puppy. A 115-pound puppy that is eager to learn. He is happy, calm, friendly, playful and cuddly. He easily goes into his crate to eat and sleep but prefers to be with his housemates, both canine and human. His eyes are expressive, and his “wooooo” will clear up any confusion on how he is feeling. You’ll smile every time you hear it which will make his tail way even harder. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Finley enjoys playing with his Great Dane foster sister followed by a relaxing antler gnawing session or a nap. He really enjoys people and is very curious about anything that’s happening around him. Butt scratches, ear rubs and chilling with his family are also highlights of his day. MEDICAL ISSUES: Finley will need to be neutered at 18 months or after. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Finley looks like an adult, but he is a puppy and needs to be treated and trained as a puppy. He loves dogs of all sizes but he doesn’t read their body language well; he will need a housemate that is comfortable showing him how to be a good dog.
