Story
Meet Popcorn A Tiny Dog with a Big PersonalityPopcorn is a 10-pound Chihuahua with a big heart and a soft spot for cats. At first glance, you'll notice how adorable he is – but this little guy is more than just a cute face. Popcorn is looking for a patient, experienced home that understands the unique needs of a senior pup who’s had to figure life out on his own terms.Popcorn has cataracts and limited vision, so he startles easily – especially if he's woken up abruptly. For this reason, he’s not a fit for homes with children or a home that has many visitors and will need a calm, quiet environment where he can feel safe. Once he trusts you (and that might take some time – think weeks or even months), he’ll allow gentle pets and might even sneak in a snuggle on his terms. He’s very food-motivated, which helps with building trust, but he’s also protective of his meals and treats, so he must be fed separately from other pets. Popcorn loves cats and would absolutely thrive in a feline-friendly home. He’s cautious with dogs but can coexist peacefully after a respectful introduction.Popcorn isn’t a social butterfly, but he does fine when visitors come over – as long as they don’t try to engage with him directly. His ideal adopter will be someone who respects his boundaries, moves at his pace, and is okay with earning his love slowly but surely. If you’re a cat-loving human with a quiet home and a heart big enough for a little dog who just needs time and understanding, Popcorn might just be your perfect match.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Minnie! Minnie is a playful and lovable 7-8 months old and 32 pounds of pure fun! She’s a bouncy, high-energy pup who loves nothing more than chewing on toys and romping around with her doggie friends. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, her sweet and curious nature shines through once she warms up. We think she is a Wheaten Terrier / Poodle mix, although she isn't a typical doodle. She does shed and isn't considered 'hypoallergenic'. Minnie is crate trained (especially if treats are involved!) and is working hard on her house training. She's still learning her leash manners—sometimes she gets excited and tries to turn her walks into a game of tug—but with patience and consistency, she’s sure to improve. This girl has lots of energy and will thrive with an active family who can keep up with her exercise needs. Minnie would love a yard to play in, as she can be a bit vocal and might not be the best fit for apartment living. She’s had surgery on her front leg but is doing great and doesn’t let it slow her down one bit! Minnie’s playful spirit does come with a few mischievous habits like nipping, chewing shoes, and trying to sneak a snack off the counter, but with training and guidance, she’s learning the ropes.Minnie is good with other dogs and would be happiest with a very active family—bonus points if there’s another playful pup in the mix! While her experience with cats and kids is unknown, her foster thinks she’ll do well with older kids who can match her energy. What makes Minnie extra special? After a big day of play, she turns into the sweetest cuddle bug, showering you with kisses and snuggling up close. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and lively companion to join your adventures, Minnie might just be your perfect match! Now accepting applications! Minnie is still recovering from her surgery and will be ready to home to an adoptive home around the first week of June. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Terra is a 7-year-old female Chihuahua mix full figure 19-pound little lady who loves to snuggle in your neck. She definitely needs to lose a few pounds so we are working on that, slow but sure. This little gal became a part of the CAWS family from an out of state shelter bursting at the seams with her time running out. She just got spayed and had a couple mammary tumors removed while she was under. Terra gets along wonderfully with everyone in the foster home, big and small, male and female. She is totally house and crate trained but her 2-legged people work from home so she does not have to be crated too often. She loves cuddling with her 2-legged people and 4 legged canines on the couch and sleep with them, but totally okay to sleep on the floor in a dog bed as well. She gives gentle kisses and hugs sitting in your lap up to your neck. This little lady is the most wonderful, precious, loving and sweet, adorable dog ever. She radiates sheer delight and gentleness. She's also pretty quiet. This angel has utterly turned out to be a little gem, dang near perfect. Terra needs to go to a home with a yard so she can meander and wonder, take her time to do her business. Terra just wants to find her forever family and be safe for the rest of her life. We do not know how she is with children but recommend she go to a home with older kids. If you are interested please reach out for a meet and greet. Terra will make the greatest most wonderful companion and be a keeper of your inner most secrets.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
