She is a bit shy at first and tends to observe the world from a safe distance, but with time and reassurance, her gentle nature shines through. This docile pup will thrive with a patient, understanding human who’s willing to move at her pace and celebrate small victories with her as she learns that humans are good. She doesn’t ask for much—just kindness, consistency, and a calm environment where she can feel secure. Once she begins to trust, Mavis shows her affection in subtle, tender ways. Although very small (only 10 pounds), Mavis loves the company of other pups (calm and sweet pups), and we have found that the companionship of another animal helps her to feel brave. If you’re someone who believes love grows best when it’s nurtured slowly, Mavis may be the perfect companion to share your heart and home with. Mavis has an adoption fee of $600. Meet Miss Marla. Marla is a 4 year old teddy bear mix. I believe she is part lhasa apso, and she is smart and sweet and playful. Marla had a rocky start to her life so far but she is resilient! When I first got her, she didn't know what stairs were. In three weeks she has learned to go up and down stairs, sometimes reluctantly, and she will signal that she needs to go outside by going to the door. Marla is very laid back and quiet, she is not a barker. She does have a bit of a stubborn streak, so sometimes you have to work with that to get her to do things. But she is trainable! If you would like more information or would like to meet Marla, please call or text foster mom Rose Roderick, Hales Corners, WI 414-507-2428. Adoption fee of $450 required.

Name: Buddy Valentine Sex: Male Breed: Lhasa Apso Age: 2 years old (as of April) Color: Cream and Golden Weight: 19.4 lbs Neutered: January 8, 2026 Buddy Valentine is a wonderful foster pup who truly lives up to his name. He is incredibly affectionate and has warm kisses for everyone he meets. He gets along well with female dogs; however, his behavior toward male dogs can be a bit snarky. Behavior toward cats is unknown. According to his paperwork, he was raised with children. I would recommend he either be an only dog or have a female friend. Older children six and above ok. He seems to have a sensitive throat area as he does not tolerate a collar, so a harness is a must. He is very playful and enjoys throwing his bones and soft toys around, though bully sticks are his favorite. Buddy loves running in the yard, but because he may be prone to running away if given the chance, a fully fenced yard is required. Currently, he sleeps in bed with me but is crated when I am away. Meet Audrey Griswold a lhapso apso/Teddy Bear She was rescued from a puppy mill just before Christmas. She has made great progress and is ready for her forever home. She is still a little scared, but she follows me everywhere, cuddles with me and my dogs. She is silly, happy, food motivated and just a joy to be around! She’s 4, about 12 pounds, fully vetted and cute as can be! She potty’s outside with the rest of the dogs, but will have accidents on occasion. Considering the horrible life she came from she is just doing spectacularly! I think she would do well in a home with another dog and older kids. A fenced yard would be preferred.
