Story
About Me: Name: Radish and Cauliflower Breed (or best guess): Poodle and Bichon Approximate Age: 2 yr and 6 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 10 lb and 13 lb Adoption Fee: $800 for both Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Retired Breeder Profile:   Radish and Cauliflower came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use them for breeding.  Despite being a retired breeder, they are fairly social girls so seems like they will adjust well to life in a home.  They had been adopted and had done well very quickly, but one of the adopters was allergic and had to return them.  They have become bonded and seem to need each other, so they need to be adopted together.  Let's get these girls in a home for Christmas! Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS December 5, 2023, 11:39 am

Story
Say hello to beautiful Opal! This sweet girl is around 8 years old. She's a rescued puppy mill mama Bichon. Like so very many of these so-called breeder releases (i.e. no longer producing sellable puppies so no longer of any value to the business operators) she is timid and unsure of life outside of a locked box. So far, in my home, she has proven to be animal friendly (dogs and cats) and accepting of love - though loving hands make her very nervous still. She watches my every move with curiosity and will lay herself down in the same room as the rest of us - she does not hide. When she doesn't think I'm looking, she rolls in the grass as if she's never felt anything so luxurious- and it's doubtful she ever has. She must have a fenced-in yard at her new home as a leash isn't an option for this sweetheart. She is going to need time and lots of patient, unconditional love and support to transition into a new life. I think this lovely lady will just blossom in a loving home! You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about Opal on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!! Adoption fee: $425 All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an application. Applications and Adoption Rules can be found on our website, on the "HOW TO ADOPT" tab at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Upon receipt of the completed application, we will process the application including: contact with your veterinarian and completion of a home visit. Please be sure to include the contact information for your vet as we will call. If your vet requires an information release, please be sure to contact them as soon as you submit your application. We are a group of volunteers with families and jobs, so please be patient and allow a few days for our response. JR's Pups-N-Stuff Dog Sellers License 512395-DS

Story
Louie and Tula joined BAARK in July after living the last six years, basically on their own, enduring neglect and isolation, having only each other to make it through every day. They are truly a bonded pair. When they were purchased by their original owner, they were treated like precious pups, receiving all the attention any dog should receive. However the owner passed away about six years ago leaving these innocent pups with her husband, who does not care for dogs and clearly neglected them for six painful years. They were confined to a garage with very little human contact, and definitely no medical or basic care. In July, the man decided to sell his home. The realtor saw how neglected and “abandoned” this pair look and asked the owner what he planned to do with them. He planned to dump them at the vet to be euthanized. Fortunately the realtor talked him out of it, and began searching for a rescue to help. No other rescue group in the area was willing to take a bonded pair of senior, but BAARK did so, and we are glad we did. When our volunteers went to the house to confiscate the pair, Louie and Tula were so happy to see them but even more excited to finally feel the warm sun on their skin and the soft grass under their feet….pleasures they have not enjoyed for a very long time. Louie and Tula are an adorable pair of purebred Bichons estimated to be about 12 years old. In spite of their neglectful past, they have proven to be a delightful pair, happy, outgoing, and even playful…making up for lost time!! They love to run in the yard, go for walks, and of course cuddle with each other. They love being with people and are good with other dogs too! Louie is clearly the more confident of the two. He can be silly at times and very cuddly too. Both pups are fully vetted and are in overall good health. Louie has a bit of limp in his left forelimb likely due to previous nerve damage but it does not let it get in the way of playing and having fun. He is on pain meds to manage this issue. Other than that, both pups are in overall great shape!!. Louie and Tula are so very deserving of a loving home and a family to provide them the best care ever, during their twilight years. We sure hope there is a caring and compassionate family out there, willing to provide a forever home for both of these sweet pups. To learn how you can add Louie and Tula to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Clifford came to us when a rescue in Houston closed down.  He was listed as aggressive.  We have worked with him and identified his trigger...food (treats) and toys.  He doesn't like to share.  Clifford is looking for his new person. He has learned to trust people and just wants an older person or couple to call his own. He loves his toys.  If he brings them to you, he wants you to play.  If you try to take it away without his permission, you might get bit.  Clifford was born around 10/2012.  He weighs 20 pounds and his adoption fee is $200.  He is a challenge to groom but other than that he’s a doll. If you are interested in adopting him please go to our website www.adoggie4you.org to complete an application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 5, 2023, 12:32 am

Story
My name is Lil Bit! I'm a 6 year old female Maltese. I am about 10lbs. I am being fostered in Milwaukee WI.  I live up to my name! I am tiny! I came from a rough situation. Being in my foster home however has helped me come out of my shell. My foster friends have been great on showing me how to be an inside loved doggo.  Since my past life hasn't been great, I'm a bit skittish. I tend to run the other way yet. But I promise with time, gentle hands, patience and understanding, I will come around.  I live with other dogs and cats, and been around children, they do not bug me, I stick to myself and animal buddies.  I am not potty trained yet, I am working on that. I am not kennel trained either, however I am not bothered when in one. I enjoy soft blankets and treats.  I am up to date on age appropriate shots. I am not spayed, (yet). I have an upcoming appt for that.  If I caught your attention, hop on over to : Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue website. https://www.tinypawssmalldogrescue.org/ And submit an application.   Adoption fee is required. Adoption fee is $450. If you have any questions or concerns my foster mom can be reached at 414-307-3785. She can also be reached through email at : Jensensarah2598@gmail.com.
