Meet Tonks! Tonks is a little shy but wants to be your BFF with time. Tonks is a Treeing Walker Coonhound, Labrador Retriever mix who was born on 09/03/2020. When she came to TLC she was nervous but deep down, Tonks is a gentle pup and we know that she could live the very best life with an owner who has the time and patience to show her that there is so much kindness out there.Tonks` adoption fee is sponsored so that covers her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (Tonks is negative!), and she is up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. If you`d like to meet Tonks, feel free to fill out an adoption application at tlchs.org or you are welcome to make a match making appointment to come out and meet her. We are open Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Story
‘WINTER OLYMPICS’ THEMED MOMMA:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 45 lbs.  Hi there, I’m Elana - momma to the Winter Olympics themed puppies who have all been adopted!  My puppies and I came to Mostly Mutts, thanks to a kind person who helped all of us get here safely.  I finished raising my puppies in a wonderful foster home, was adopted for a couple of weeks, but we weren’t a good match, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for my people.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I absolutely LOVED playing with the dogs in my former foster home and my temporary adoptive family also reported that I liked the dogs I met while I was with them!  I am pretty energetic and may be a bit much for a dog who is not looking for an active doggie friend.  If you have a dog who is looking for a fur friend to have big play sessions with, let’s meet! / When I was in a chill mood, I pretty much ignored the kitties in my former foster home, but when I was in play mode, I did a good bit of play bowing and tried to be mouthy with them and chased them – though I never harmed them.  All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would do with other cats. / I like the kids I’ve met while with my former foster family.  I’m super active and a jumpy, mouthy player, so older children in my new home would be best while I learn good play manners with kids.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super sweet and friendly girl who is learning about wonderful in-home doggie life.  I get excited to meet new people because I think everyone might be my new best friend!  I’ve got a curious, free spirit and I love exploring the world around me - if it’s something I can sniff, pick up, or check out with my mouth or paws, I’m definitely interested!  My former foster was working on teaching me to ‘drop it’ when I find something to explore that isn’t mine, and I’ll want my new family to continue that with me.  New places can make me a little nervous at first, and when I get overwhelmed, I might try to run away, so I need someone who will help me feel safe and keep a close eye on me while I’m learning.  A yard with a privacy fence would be a great fit for me to play in and explore with you, though my temp. family reported that I could get out of their fence, so please stay with me until you know I won’t try to do that.  I’m still figuring out how to live in a home, so I don’t really have my manners down yet and I can be playfully mouthy as I learn.  I’ll need a patient  family who knows a good bit about dogs and training to guide me with kindness and consistency.  If you’re willing to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you lots of love, hugs, and loyal companionship in return.  My former foster says I am ‘funny to watch and a joy to have around’ – I bet you will agree! / My energy level is 7-9, so I need a good bit of consistent exercise.    • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’ and ‘shake’ commands and have pretty good leash walking manners.  Let's continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My former foster indicated it was mealtime or nap time by using the word ‘kennel’ and I would gladly go running to it.  If I got enough exercise, I didn’t need to be crated at night in my former foster home. / My potty habits were improving in my foster home and my temp. family reported that I was mostly potty trained, though I did still have accidents.  So, I’ll need my new family to finish my potty training. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to play with my doggie friends and – when it is time for a game of tug of war, I may include my people in the fun, too!  Treat puzzle toys are very engaging for me, and I love peanut butter-filled Kong toys as well.  Stuffed toys are just the best and – a true cuddle bug, I love affection in the evening - especially hugs.  In my former foster home - the evenings were fun as I’d  happily run zoomies around the backyard with a toy in my mouth, getting my energy out before bedtime. / I wouldn’t be happy in a home that’s not patient and willing to train me and be active with me, and like all dogs, I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.   I am looking for a loving home with a family that will be active with me and continue my training as I learn all the things that will help me be a great companion!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 31, 2026, 8:10 am

Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over five years. Boone is almost 6 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. Boone is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and but is not a fan of cats. Boone hopes to get his chance to go home, and he is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
