Story
Penny has been with us 5 years since she was a puppy. She is pure treeing walker but has no papers. We acquired her from a family in North Carolina. She has always lived with a family with 2 dogs and kids (grade school and up). She is an inside dog but loves time in her backyard too. She is potty trained and crate trained. She knows the following commands: sit, shake, lay down, stay, wait for it, come. She is high energy mixed with hound dog lazy meaning she loves to run but also to take naps in the sun. She has been a well-loved dog, but we can no longer care for her. I think she will do best in a family with older children who would enjoy playing with her and teaching her more tricks as she is a smart dog.

Story
‘WINTER OLYMPICS’ THEMED MOMMA:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 45 lbs.  Hi there, I’m Elana—momma to the Winter Olympics themed puppies who have all been adopted! My puppies and I came to Mostly Mutts, thanks to a kind person who helped all of us get here safely. I finished raising my puppies in a wonderful foster home, was adopted for a couple of weeks, but we weren’t a good match, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for my people. I’m in another wonderful foster home while I wait.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’m doing great with the dog in my foster home, who gives me boundaries when I need them. I also LOVED playing with the dogs in my former foster home, and my temporary adoptive family reported that I enjoyed the dogs I met while I was with them, too. I also did well with the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts! I’m an energetic, playful pup, so I may be a bit much for a dog who prefers a quieter lifestyle. If you have a dog who’s looking for an active playmate to romp and have lots of fun with, let’s meet! / When I was in a chill mood, I pretty much ignored the kitties in my former foster home, but when I was in play mode, I did a good bit of play bowing and tried to be mouthy with them and chased them—though I never harmed them. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would do with other cats. / I liked the kids aged 6-14 years old I met while with my foster family. I’m super active and a jumpy, mouthy player, so older children in my new home would be best. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a super sweet and friendly girl who is learning about wonderful in-home doggie life. I get excited to meet new people because I think everyone might be my new best friend! Overall, I’m pretty quiet, but I may alert bark/howl at a delivery driver or suspicious sound I hear outside. I’ve got a curious, free spirit and I love exploring the world around me—if it’s something I can sniff, pick up, or check out with my mouth or paws, I’m definitely interested! My former foster worked on teaching me to ‘drop it’ when I find something to explore that isn’t mine, and I’ll want my new family to continue that with me. New places can make me a little nervous at first, and when I get overwhelmed, I might try to run away, so I need someone who will help me feel safe and keep a close eye on me while I’m learning. A yard with a privacy fence would be a great fit for me to play in and explore with you, though my temp. family reported that I could get out of their fence, so please stay with me until you know I won’t try to do that. I’m learning how to live in a home, and my foster reports that I’m doing so well! I want a patient family who knows a good bit about dogs and training to guide me with kindness and consistency. If you’re willing to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you lots of love, hugs, and loyal companionship in return. My foster says I am ‘funny to watch and a joy to have around’ and a ‘true gem’—I bet you will agree! / My energy level is 7-9, so I need a good bit of consistent exercise.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’ and ‘shake’ commands and have pretty good leash walking manners, though I still zigzag a bit. Let's continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My former foster indicated it was mealtime or nap time by using the word ‘kennel’ and I would gladly go running to it. I sleep well in my crate at nighttime, and it’s been clean and dry in the mornings. / My potty habits were improving in my foster home and my temp. family reported that I was mostly potty trained, though I did still have a few accidents. So, I’ll need my new family to finish my potty training. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to play with my doggie friends and—when it is time for a game of tug of war, I may include my people in the fun, too! Treat puzzle toys are very engaging for me, and I love peanut butter-filled Kong toys as well. Stuffed toys are just the best and I’m a true cuddle bug. In my former foster home—the evenings were fun as I’d happily run zoomies around the backyard with a toy in my mouth, getting my energy out before bedtime. I love morning and evening walks, plus the nice naps that follow. I also really enjoy belly rubs, attention, chewing on ice, and snacks! / I wouldn’t be happy in a home that’s not patient and willing to train me and be active with me, and like all dogs, I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.   I am looking for a loving home with a family that will be active with me and continue my training as I learn all the things that will help me be a great companion! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.August 5, 2026, 3:50 pm

Lumi weighs in at 13.5 lbs and is 6-7 months old. He’s learning to love the indoor life but still adjusting and exploring, with his curious and lively personality coming out more each day. He’s hesitant around new humans but warms up quickly and is very affectionate. He will thrive with plenty of patience and outlets for his energy (bonus if they come with new smells to appreciate!) as he gets accustomed to his new indoor world. Lumi is looking for a home that, like him, understands the magic of treats, chew toys, relaxing naps, and good belly rubs! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Meet Bridget -Bridget is a beautiful 7-year-old beagle with a gentle, sensitive soul. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation alongside dozens of other beagles, she's spent the past several months discovering that the world can be a safe, happy place. Her foster family has surrounded her with patience, compassion and unconditional love, and Bridget has soaked up every bit of it. Bridget is a fast learner who loves being outdoors, walks, chewing on sticks, cozy naps, treats, other dogs and following a predictable routine. She's house-trained, crate-trained, good with both dogs and cats, good in the car and has already learned the foundation for "come." Although she's still learning basic commands, she naturally looks to her people for reassurance, often checking in with a glance, and responds beautifully to calm, gentle guidance. Because of her past, Bridget can be anxious in new situations and is a flight risk, so she'll need a secure, fenced yard. She thrives with consistency, structure and patient encouragement. A socially confident resident dog would be a wonderful teacher and companion, as Bridget looks to other dogs for confidence and reassurance. There is something incredibly special about Bridget. She has learned to trust, to love, and even to play with joyful abandon, a testament to how far she's come and how much happiness is still ahead of her. She isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for cozy naps, a predictable routine, and someone who will continue showing her the love she's waited her whole life to receive. Experience with shy or traumatized dogs is a plus, but what's most important is someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. With patience, understanding, and love, she will blossom in her own time. Watching her learn, trust, and experience joy is a truly special and rewarding experience. Bridget currently weighs about 22lbs., is approximately 7 years old (est. birth date 12/20/2018), and her adoption fee is $315. Bridget has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Bridget, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
