Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus My Friends at Wayside say: - I like to follow my nose wherever I go!- I`ve successfully lived with cats in my previous home!- During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs.-My previous owner said that I am house-trained and crate-trained. My home needs are:- Wayside recommends bringing your children 9 years old and younger out to meet me before adoption since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises. Hi there, I’m Scout!I’m a handsome 3-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound with a heart full of adventure and a nose that never takes a day off! If you’re looking for a loyal, polite, and easy-going companion who’s equal parts independent explorer and cuddly buddy, you just might be looking for me.I’m what people like to call a `mature gentleman,” I’ve got some life experience under my collar, but I still love to play, explore, and enjoy the finer things in life (like a good toy or a scenic hike). I’m fully crate trained and I love watching TV, especially if there are animals on the screen. I’ll happily sit beside you for some screen time, head scratches, and quiet company.That said, I’m not the clingy type. I like my space, too. I’ll cuddle when the mood strikes, but I’m also content to do my own thing, especially if there are new smells to follow. True to my hound nature, my nose is my guide, so don’t be surprised if I’m off in the yard or on a trail with my sniffer to the ground, tail wagging, fully immersed in the scent of the world.I’m also polite with other dogs and enjoy having dog friends to romp and play with. I know how to have fun but I never get too rowdy, just enough to keep life interesting! Whether it`s a game of tug, a squeaky toy session, or a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, I`m down for it all. Walks, hikes, yard time, or even just sniffing around the block, count me in.Even though I’m more aloof than needy, I truly enjoy being near my people. I’m that calm presence in the room who makes everything feel a little more grounded. I might not demand constant attention, but I’ll be there, steady, sweet, and quietly devoted.If you’re looking for a calm but playful companion who’s past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of energy for outdoor adventures and indoor snuggles, I might just be your guy.
