Story
Rufus is a big, handsome coonhound boy, estimated to be 5–7 years old, with a sweet soul and a voice he isn’t afraid to use! He loves to sing in his kennel, but once he’s outside, he’s actually a pretty mellow guy. Rufus hasn’t had the easiest road. He was found tied to a porch, and when the person who found him asked the homeowner about him, they were told to just take him. Now, Rufus deserves a chance to find out what it feels like to be truly loved. He’s friendly with other dogs, has been wonderful with our young volunteers, and is working on his house training! Rufus is currently being treated for heartworm disease, so he’ll need a home where he can rest and recover primarily indoors while he gets back on his paws. This big singing sweetheart has so much love left to give. Could you be the one to give Rufus the safe, cozy home he deserves?

Story
After four years of loving Tootie, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find her a new home. Tootie came to us from a local shelter after being found wandering the woods. She is incredibly fearful of loud booms, especially fireworks and gunshots, and we’ve always wondered if something happened to her before she found us. She is a sweet, goofy girl who LOVES her people. She wants to be in your lap, give hugs, and be the center of attention. She knows “sit” and understands “home.” She’s estimated to be 8–9 years old, and we’ll provide her vet records and microchip information. Unfortunately, despite trying everything, her prey drive has resulted in the loss of too many farm animals. She cannot safely live with cats, other animals, poultry, livestock, or small animals. Tootie isn’t a bad dog. She just needs a different kind of home, one where she can be someone’s spoiled, only pet. This decision hurts tremendously, and we are looking for the right home, not just any home

Story
Leela is a gorgeous, very healthy, two year old black and tan coonhound. Leela loves people and other dogs. Leela is fully house trained, leash trained, and recall shock collar trained. She has never chewed shoes, furniture, etc. but she will shred her own cloth toys. Leela is extremely intelligent and even quickly learned to use our drop down interior door handles by watching us use them. Leela is highly prey driven. She will kill cats and small wild animals. Leela is being rehomed due to ongoing issue with local barn cats. She needs to be leashed, on a secure tie-out, in a fenced yard, or have an electric fence when outdoors. Leela spent many months at a shelter causing her to be shy with adults but she warms quickly and is very gentle with adults and children. Leela wants to please her humans and watches closely for cues. She offers a paw or places her chin on your knee to seek love. UPDATE: Leela’s vaccinations were updated on 7/28/26 and her bi-annual heartworm test was negative.
