Story
Hi, I'm Gunner, the handsome hound dog. When you first meet me I may seem a little shy. Once outside, however, you'll see my personality start to shine bright. I love to go for long walks outside, exploring all the great scents and following all the fascinating tracks -- well, that's what hound dogs do! All the wonderful sights and scents are so exciting -- I find myself happier and more eager to come out of my shell and share them with you. With my nose to the ground and my tail in the air, I love the fresh spring breeze in my fur and the pleasure of your company as we stride side-by-side. I'm a pretty smart fella , I already know ; sit, paw, down and will even give you my paws to clean before we go back inside for some cuddle time . Now, that's a happy hound dog!

Story
Joe is no "average Joe"! This good boy "ain't nothing but a hound dog" - but a hound dog can be pretty great! Just check out those adorable floppy ears! This handsome 4-year-old is a silly, energetic guy who would love to find a very active family. A perfect day for Joe involves going for walks and doing lots of sniffing and exploring! This handsome boy is a social butterfly who quickly became a favorite among our volunteer dogwalkers and Doggy Day Out participants. Joe has gotten along with children and some other dogs before, but he does not do well with small dogs or cats - hounds like Joe were originally bred to hunt, so he has the wrong kind of interest in smaller animals! We'll have you bring the whole family, human and canine, to Lollypop to meet Joe before bringing him home to be sure it's a good fit for everyone. Maybe "he ain't never caught a rabbit" but he is a friend of mine, and he wants to be your friend, too!

These pups are in Batavia, New York too!

Story
Bess is a 7 year old spayed female Beagle/Bulldog Mix. Bess weighs about 50 lbs. She is good natured and sweet. She is housebroken, crate trained, good on a leash and good with other dogs.  She is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.April 15, 2024, 11:57 am
