🛑REQUIRED - A SECURE FENCED-IN YARD AND A DOG SIBLING🛑 ✨ Brody’s Story: From Scared to Safe, From Safe to Loved ✨ Brody is a 32‑lb, 2‑year‑old Ridglan survivor whose life has only just begun. ❤️‍🩹 When he first arrived, the world felt big and loud and confusing. 😥 He was scared, unsure, and trying his best to understand what “home” even meant. But with patience, kindness, and the gentle guidance of his foster buddy, Brody has been slowly unfolding like a little flower in spring. And oh, what a beautiful boy he’s becoming. 🥰 Outside, Brody is pure joy. He LOVES to play in the yard with his furry sibling — so much that you may need a solid 20 minutes to convince him that playtime is over. He zooms, he wiggles, he beams. 😍 But the moment he steps inside, he transforms into the world’s most easygoing couch potato. He’ll plop down anywhere — truly anywhere 🤭— like gravity just wins and he melts into the floor with a dramatic sigh. He’s a cuddler, a TV‑watching buddy, a car‑ride enthusiast who sticks his head out the window like he’s finally tasting freedom. He adores white American cheese slices (his love language), and he gives the happiest tail wags for small female dogs. Kids? He’s great with them too — gentle, sweet, and trying his best even when he’s nervous. 💙 Brody is still learning the world. Walks outside the backyard are scary right now, and he’ll need someone who understands that bravery grows slowly. 💪 He’s mostly housebroken with occasional accidents, somewhat crate trained, and wonderfully respectful with food and toys. He feels safest with his human or a resident dog nearby, and he would absolutely thrive in a home with a fenced yard and a friendly dog sibling. But here’s the heart of Brody, he is a dog who wants to love and be loved. 💖 He is trying so hard, blossoming more every day and he deserves a home where he’s allowed on the couch, in the bed, and in every corner of someone’s heart. 🤗 If you’re looking for a gentle soul who will cuddle into your side, melt into your blankets, wag his tail at your kindness, and remind you daily what second chances look like 💞… Brody is ready and waiting for his furever home! He just needs someone who sees the magic he’s becoming.

Story
🛑REQUIRED - A SECURE FENCED-IN YARD AND A DOG SIBLING🛑 Theo, a beagle rescued from Ridglan, is a gentle, curious little guy who loves being close to his people and discovering the world at his own pace. 💙 At just 18 lbs and 1 year old, he’s the perfect mix of playful, cuddly, and observant. He is a snuggler and backyard explorer. Theo is working on his potty training. 💪 He has occasional accidents — he’s still learning and benefits from routine. He is not currently using a crate. He is pretty relaxed and easygoing. He's not destructive, but he may think TV remotes are chew toys 🫣...he's working on that! 😉 Theo walks slowly and calmly, only pulling if startled. He LOVES being outside — sniffing, watching the world, and taking in every sound and smell. A secure fenced yard is required for this little explorer, 🧐. He absolutely lights up when he can roam off‑leash! He is not a fan of a collar or anything around his neck. Theo is dog and cat friendly. He is a sweet, sensitive soul who bonds deeply once he trusts you. 🤗 He loves snuggling right next to you or in your lap, sleeping in the bed, exploring the outside and watching the world from the porch and being picked up gently. Getting down on his level seems to help him feel safe. Theo's dream forever home is with someone home often or with a flexible schedule, a calm, patient household. 🥰 He will need furry canine companion for company.🤞 Theo is the kind of dog who wants to be part of your day, your couch, and your heart — a loyal little shadow who just needs love, time, and gentle reassurance. 💝

Story
Rowdy is a little shy with new people. Shes great with all dogs she meets and would be best on a home with another dog to help her adjust. Rowdy is curious in new situations, but life up until recently, hasnt been kind to her..... so she will need time to get comfortable and then her true goofy nature will emerge! Like a butterfly, Rowdy is a much different pup than when she 1st came to us from the pound, with no hope of getting out :( UNTIL the rescue chick saw me and knew i was a diamond in the RUFF ;) Rowdy needs a patient home who will give her time to warm up, open up & trust. Older kids only would be best for her and a fully fenced yard is a must. Until she settles in she'll be an escape risk. An apartment would work for Rowdy as well. She is ready for her furever family!! Apply soon! Local adoption only $200, in TX

Story
🐾 MAX the beagle is a recent local surrender whose owner could no longer keep him through on fault of his own - he's 4 years old and we got him fully vetted at his new foster's. He's an energetic pup and gets along with the other dogs at his fosters and is a sweet and friendly boy with new people, too. We'll report back with more/better pics and more info as we get them from his foster. He surprised us when he weighed in at 32 lbs at his neuter appt. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply and be sure to choose their name from the dropdown to expedite your application!! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
Bitty 2 years old Spayed female Beagle 15-20 lbs Beagle lovers... this one's for you Bitty is possibly the sweetest girl on the planet. She doesn't know a stranger and wants to gently crawl into the lap of everyone she meets to give them kisses. She loves to go for walks and car rides and then snuggle up into a comfy blanket next to her person at the end of the day. She loves kids and other dogs and would make an excellent addition to any family. Bitty suffered a traumatic tail injury which led to her tail needing to be amputated, and she is incontinent as a result. She wears baby diapers (cheaper than dog diapers!) and is great for her diaper changes. It's a bit like having a baby, but the plus side to this is no accidents in the house! We often hear worries that you can't work/go out and have a diaper dog but that's not true - it's less work than you'd think and we'd be more than happy to discuss her routine with an interested adopter! - Dog friendly (cats unknown) - Crate trained - Walks great on leash, fenced yard not required - Loves kids and would make a great family dog! If youre interested in adopting Bitty please complete an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt Long distance adoptions considered - must travel to us in the Buffalo, NY area for a meet and greet. *Please keep in mind that it is time consuming for our volunteers to process applications. We ask that you are sure you are ready to welcome a dog into your home and are seriously interested in adopting BEFORE applying.
