Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided below.Pecan is a 2-year-old, neutered Treeing Wasler Coonhound. He was rescued by the finder after it was reported that he was used for hunting and kept in isolation outdoors for approximately a year and a half. He was allegedly confined in a makeshift kennel surrounded by barbed wire, with only a barrel for shelter, and was left there regardless of extreme weather conditions. Despite this, he has a very calm, gentle, and sweet demeanor. He does well with people, other dogs, and cats. While he is somewhat shy and timid, he has shown no signs of aggression. He has not bitten, snapped, or displayed reactive behavior toward anyone in the home. The only noted sensitivity is mild startle responses to sudden noises. Videos documenting his behavior are available.Since being rescued, he has made significant progress. He is becoming more curious about his surroundings and has developed a strong affection for cuddling. He was successfully house trained in two days. As is typical for his breed, he has an excellent sense of small and enjoys using his nose; if something goes missing, he is more than capable of tracking it down. The finder greatly admires his resilience and the strides he has made in such a short period of time. He is learning how to simply be a dog and truly deserves a second chance at life in a locing, permanent home.If you are interested in Pecan, please email lphutson85@yahoo.com

Story
Scout is 7 and loves his humans. He likes to be near his people, but due to a change in circumstances, we are not home enough for him. We adopted him from the Humane Society as a pup. He went through a dog training course. He is healthy and has had regular veterinary care. He needs a few minutes to accept a new person in his home, but takes to people quite well. He also gets along great with other dogs and used to go to doggy day care. He’s a great dog who just likes to be around s people.

Story
www.pet-tender.com/adoptionform.htm   Meet Brittany, a spayed, two-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound, a southern beauty who elicits compliments wherever she goes. Miniature for the breed at 40 pounds, Brittany has lots of teenage energy and would do best in a home with a large fenced-in yard. Likely a hunting dog abandoned for, well, not hunting, she’s a happy, loving soul, bashful at first, but quick to connect with her special people. Through the efforts of her trainer and foster parents, Brittany walks well on the leash, even over long distances, and can be trusted not to have accidents in the house if taken out regularly.  She has quickly gained confidence with the sights and sounds of suburban life and recently had a fun first visit to the beach.  Most of all, Brittany adores affection—she has the unique ability to grip onto you lovingly with her front paws and lean in for minutes while you rub her velvety soft, short coat. Brittany would be fine as either a solo dog or with another young dog of a similar playful spirit and size.  This is a unique opportunity to own an uncommon breed with lots of personality. We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here. March 18, 2024, 12:23 am
