Story
Rubys story began when she was found abandoned in a park with her five week old puppies. She was a devoted and attentive mama who kept her babies safe until they were old enough to find their forever homes. Now its Rubys turn to find a family. Ruby is a 3 year old, 44 lb sweetheart with a loving and athletic spirit. She loves romping outside, squeaky toys, learning new things, and curling up for cuddles with her people. She absolutely lights up when she sees familiar people. Her tail wag is endless and she happily soaks up belly rubs and affection. Shes housebroken, crate trained and currently lives happily in a family setting with kids, dogs, and cats. She does best with slow intros to new dogs but once she realizes they are friendly shes very sweet, playful and submissive. She is a wonderful cat companion also and totally ignores them, including the litter box. Ruby completed a 3 week board and train program and did AMAZING. Her trainer was impressed with how quickly she picks up new skills and how eager she is to work. She learned all kinds of obedience skills and manners. She can be anxious meeting new people outside her comfort zone so adopters without expectations of taking her out and about to busy places is ideal. Shes a simple girl that loves the familiarity and routine of home and walks in nature. Rubys quite agile and can jump low fences so high fences and/or supervision while shes outdoors is a must. If youre looking for a loyal, loving companion and believe in giving a dog with a hard background a second chance, Ruby might just be your girl! Ruby is spayed, microchipped, utd on vaccines and prevention and negative for both heart worms and tick diseases. Our Rescue is 100% donation based all the way to adoption. We do not have set adoption fees, but we do require a donation to be made at the time of adoption. Donations go towards saving other animals and preparing them for their new lives in their new homes! Story
Meet Duke. Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 07-12-2025 after spending most of his life living on the streets of Pauls Valley, OK. He was first seen in the area about seven years earlier, with kind people making sure he was fed and checked on, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside one until coming into rescue. Since then, Duke has shown that he is a big-hearted, people-loving dog who enjoys a good walk followed by a solid nap. He is equal parts playful and affectionate, and he has a way of winning people over once he has time to settle. During a recent boarding stay, staff described Duke as happy, talkative, and energetic. He settled in easily and did well with other dogs, including playful beagle-sized dogs and larger shepherds . His playful energy, gentle cuddles, and unique personality made him a favorite with staff during his stay. Duke does well with most other dogs in the home and has all the love to give to his people. He enjoys exploring on walks, soaking up attention, and then crashing for some well earned rest. At the time of writing (1/19/2026), Duke has been waiting 191 days since intake and has experienced several foster transitions. He is likely ready to stop moving around and finally have the chance to relax in a place that is his own. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is a little silly, very sweet, and ready to trade foster hopping for forever, Duke is ready.
