Coretta is a 3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who came from a difficult start. She was found alone in a rural area with no owner to be found, and it appeared she may have been abandoned, and there was evidence that her muzzle had previously been tied shut. Despite everything she had been through, Coretta never stopped wanting to be close to people. After spending time in a busy shelter environment, it became clear that kennel life was overwhelming for her. The shelter team worried that the longer she stayed there the harder it would be on her. When they reached out to Helpless Hounds looking for guidance, we fell in love. She is now safe in foster care and getting the chance to decompress and start fresh. What stands out most about Coretta is how deeply she loves people. She greets everyone like an old friend and seems convinced that every person she meets is there specifically to see her. She enjoys being part of the action and thrives when she gets attention, affection, and time with her people. She seems to almost have her feelings hurt if someone doesn't want to interact with her. Coretta already knows a couple of basic commands and is housebroken. Like many hounds she is smart, expressive, and eager to be involved in whatever her people are doing. What she needs most now is a home where she can truly be part of the family. After everything she has been through, Coretta deserves family who's just as obsessed with her as she will be with them.

Delilah is a young hound who came from a rough situation in rural Oklahoma and is now settling happily into foster life in Tulsa. She's sweet, curious, and a little shy at first, but once she's comfortable she wants to know where you are and will check in if you're not sitting with her. She's house trained, comes when called, understands "no," and "uh-uh," and goes into her crate easily. She sleeps quietly and waits patiently to be let out. Delilah gets along well with other dogs, and is always down to join in on squirrel patrol. This girl loves to run in the yard- she's fast, graceful, and clearly enjoys stretching her legs and just being a dog. She'd do best in a home that gives her a little time to settle and lets her keep building confidence. All Delilah wants is a home to call her own, enough yard space to hit full speed and feel the wind in her ears, and someone to be nearby while she figures it all out.

Rubys story began when she was found abandoned in a park with her five week old puppies. She was a devoted and attentive mama who kept her babies safe until they were old enough to find their forever homes. Now its Rubys turn to find a family. Ruby is a 3 year old, 45 lb sweetheart with a loving and athletic spirit. She loves romping outside, squeaky toys, learning new things, and curling up for cuddles with her people. She absolutely lights up when she sees familiar people. Her tail wag is endless and she happily soaks up belly rubs and affection. Shes housebroken, crate trained and currently lives happily in a family setting with kids, dogs, and cats. She does best with slow intros to new dogs but once she realizes they are friendly shes very sweet, playful and submissive. She is a wonderful cat companion also and totally ignores them, including the litter box. Ruby completed a 3 week board and train program and did AMAZING. Her trainer was impressed with how quickly she picks up new skills and how eager she is to work. She learned all kinds of obedience skills and manners. She can be anxious meeting new people outside her comfort zone so adopters without expectations of taking her out and about to busy places is ideal. Shes a simple girl that loves the familiarity and routine of home and walks in nature. Rubys quite agile and can jump low fences so high fences and/or supervision while shes outdoors is a must. If youre looking for a loyal, loving companion and believe in giving a dog with a hard background a second chance, Ruby might just be your girl! Ruby is spayed, microchipped, utd on vaccines and prevention and negative for both heart worms and tick diseases. Our Rescue is 100% donation based all the way to adoption.
