Story
Daisy is a sweet loving dog she is fixed and potty trained, loves to go on walks and hikes, play fetch in the yard and loves car rides. Loves her belly rubs and pets. Loves to play with other dogs by chasing back and forth. Lately I have not had time to give her a lot of attention due to working longer hours and deserves an owner who has the time.

Ace is a young hound mix under a year old with a calm, thoughtful personality and just the right balance of adventure and downtime. He enjoys exploring the woods, sniffing around trails, and hanging out near the water, but he is not nonstop hyper or chaotic. After some fun and activity, he settles down nicely. Ace is great with other dogs and with cats. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loyal. He is the kind of dog who forms real bonds instead of instantly demanding attention from everyone he meets. He would do great with someone who wants an active companion for walks, exploring, road trips, or outdoor time, while still wanting a dog that can relax and coexist peacefully at home afterward. Currently in Oklahoma but can be adopted to approved out-of-state homes via transport. If an adoption does not work out (rare, but life happens), I always take my dogs back. Fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested). Adoption fee: $450 (includes transport and vetting). Story
Hi, I’m Gwen! I’m a 1-year-old Basset Hound weighing 39 pounds, with those classic long ears, soulful eyes, and sweet Basset personality that are pretty hard to resist. Before coming to The Asher House, I lived with my littermate sister and a Basset Hound mix brother. I loved spending my days playing with them and snuggling up together when it was time to relax. I’ve also done great with kids of all ages who visited our home and enjoyed all the extra attention and affection they gave me. Sadly, our owner passed away, and family members brought us to The Asher House so we could each find new, loving homes. In my previous home, walks weren’t part of my routine. Instead, I got my exercise playing in the backyard and having fun indoors with my canine siblings. I even know how to use a dog door! With a little patience and positive reinforcement, I can continue learning about things that may be new to me, including going for walks and exploring the world beyond the backyard. Like many Basset Hounds, I’m an affectionate, easygoing girl who enjoys being part of the family. Bassets are known for their gentle nature, lovable personalities, and impressive ability to turn lounging and snuggling into an art form. We can also be curious and determined when an interesting scent catches our attention, so a secure yard and supervised outdoor time are always important. I have not been tested with cats yet, but if my future home includes feline siblings, The Asher House can cat-test me to see how I do. Most of all, I know how to give and receive lots and lots of love. I’ve experienced a big change in my young life, and now I’m ready for a family who will give me plenty of affection, companionship, playtime, and a cozy place to call home. Meet Chestnut! 🐾 Chestnut is a handsome 3-year-old Basset Hound/Dutch Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds, and this sweet boy is ready to find a family of his very own! Chestnut was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Hesperia Animal Shelter in California, giving him the second chance he so deserved. Now he’s ready to leave his past behind and start his next chapter in a loving home. Chestnut is incredibly sweet with everyone he meets. He can be a little shy when first getting to know someone, but give him some patience and time to feel comfortable and you’ll quickly see his gentle, affectionate personality come through. Once he knows you’re a friend, he’s an absolute sweetheart. He’s friendly with other dogs when given proper introductions and would likely enjoy having a canine companion who respects his pace while everyone gets acquainted. Chestnut hasn’t been introduced to cats yet, but if his future household includes feline siblings, we can introduce him to cats to help determine whether they may be a good match. Chestnut would benefit from continued leash training, so his future family should be prepared to spend some time helping him build those skills. With patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of encouragement, we think this smart boy will continue to gain confidence and learn what’s expected of him. Because Chestnut can initially be shy, we recommend a home with kids ages 8 and older who can be patient with him and give him the space and time he needs to settle in. Meet Haley ❤️🐾 Haley is an 8 year old, 48 lb. Basset Hound with the sweetest personality and A LOT to say. 😂❤️ Haley originally came from a high-kill shelter in California, where she was on the euthanasia list. She was adopted, but unfortunately her adopter had to surrender her to The Asher House because Haley and the cat were not a good match. Haley is incredibly affectionate, loving, playful, and very, very vocal. She LOVES to howl. 😂 If you walk into another room and she doesn’t see you for five minutes, you’d better believe she’s going to celebrate your return like you’ve been gone for five years. She’ll greet you with excitement, love, and, of course, a beautiful Basset Hound howl. She loves going for long walks, hiking, playing, and just being with her people. She really is such a special dog. Haley does well with other dogs, but she can resource guard, so if she goes to a home with other dogs, her family will need to be comfortable managing that. She would also be perfectly happy being the only dog in the home and getting all the love and attention for herself. Because we want Haley to always feel safe and comfortable, we believe she would do best in a home without young children. Kids 11 and older would be a better fit. She also needs a cat-free home. Haley has been through a lot, but none of it has taken away her sweetness or her love for life and people. She’s funny, affectionate, active, full of personality, and ready to find the family who will love her exactly as she is. Her adoption fee is $295 and she's spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
