**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Autumn. I'm about 2 1/2 years old and I weigh about 52 lbs. I was dropped off here at the pound after hours, so my entire back story is unknown, but the pound was able to find out that I was originally adopted from Hancock County Animal Shelter. The folks that adopted me had rehomed me about 6 months ago, so from there, it's hard to say all the places I've been. I'm here now and I am looking for a hound savvy family to join. I am a very sweet girl, but I do have a lot of energy and a lot of drive. I would love to find a family that can work with me on basic manners and have a loving, indoor home. I would probably make a great companion for someone that enjoys pleasure hunting, or I would love something similar that could help me expel my energy and also give me mental stimulation. I am hoping to find a family soon because I REALLY do not do well here in the shelter environment. I have done okay with large dogs, but I would be best for a family without other small pets. I am not likely housebroken, so I would need some work with that as well. If you're looking for a sweet coonie companion to add to your family, please consider adopting me/ Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Georgie was found as a stray and taken to a high kill dog pound in West Virginia... Pet Search was contacted and asked if we could rescue him, which we happily did! Georgie is a 7 year old treeing walker coonhound weighing around 55 pounds. He is very lovable and playful and would do well with a family that has older children because of his size. Georgie is housebroken and crate trained but needs to get acclimated to a new schedule. He is fine with larger dogs but has not been cat tested Georgie is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. Applications s are available at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog or petsearchpa.org KL#03301 Washington PA 15301

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Lucky. I'm about 5 1/2 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Palestine area and I was taken in to the Police Department, then picked up by the pound. I was microchipped and apparently I lived in Florida!! Despite my microchip being updated just a couple of days before I was brought into the pound, the pound has not been able to contact my previous owner, so I am now looking for a new, loving family to join. I am a very sweet boy. I have been great around all of the people I've met. I have met some of the other dogs here and I've done well with them as long as they're nice to me. I don't like being bullied and pushed around, but I'm good with dogs that are social and friendly. I do a great job keeping my kennel clean and I appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. Story
Hi there, I’m Murphy! I’m a 5 year old poodle mix and I’m looking for an experienced adopter to come meet me! Since I’m a mixed breed, I do shed and need regular grooming and I have some allergies so I do best on a vegetarian diet. I’m such a good boy though! I’ve been through all the training and always got perfect grades!! I love everyone, but young children and cats are just too crazy for me, so I prefer a home without them. Please email my friends here, so that you can come meet me!! Love, Murphy🐾🐾 We are currently open Monday-Thursday by appointment only, and Fri, Sat, Sun from 1-5. Facebook comments and questions are NOT monitored. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment during the week, please email us at shpr88@yahoo.com. No calls please!! This Little One is sweet as ever. She enjoys cuddles in morning and evenings, keeps pretty busy doing her "work" through out the day, will check in and give a hello then move along. Very smart, quick & restless. Will need a good amount of daily exercise and mental stimulation. Great with other dogs, and very interested and affectionate towards people, and children.
