Story
Meet Aspen! Aspen is a curious, playful, and independent girl who loves to explore her world at her own pace. She thrives in peaceful, quiet environments and can often be found perched in high places, watching birds or simply supervising her humans from above.   While she isn’t a cuddly cat, Aspen shows her affection in her own gentle ways—by napping nearby, keeping you company, and choosing moments to be close. With patience and love, her sweet personality truly shines.   Aspen prefers to be the queen of her castle and must be the only pet in the home. She doesn’t enjoy the company of other cats, dogs, or young children, and would do best in a calm household that respects her space.   If you’re looking for a low-maintenance companion who enjoys playtime, quiet moments, and life lived on her terms, Aspen may be your perfect match.   ##2586972##

Story
Meet Sugar! Sugar came to us when her owner had to move and couldn't take her along. She arrived unspayed, looking a little scrappy, and had a tough time settling in. But with patience and predictability, she has really come around, and we are learning more about who she is. Despite her name, Sugar definitely has some spice! She enjoys a few head scratches, but she will let you know when she has had enough. Sugar does set boundaries, and the key will be learning and respecting them. Once you learn her style, she is a fun little companion. Sugar has made it clear that she is not a fan of other cats, so she should be the one and only pet. Small children will probably also be too much for her. It seems that Sugar finds some bigger wand toys a little scary, but she does enjoy batting around the Cat Dancer and noodle wands, also solo toys. If you have any questions about this Sugar and spice lady, please email cats@rispca.org

Story
🌰 Meet Hazel – Beautiful, Bashful, and All About Her Fellow Felines Hazel is a stunning 3.5-year-old torbie with a heart that beats strongest for her fellow cats. Trapped as an older kitten, Hazel missed out on early human socialization—but she’s made strides at the shelter and continues to blossom at her own pace. She’s not a lap cat (and might never be), but she is the kind of cat who will light up at the sight of a laser pointer, pounce with enthusiasm on feather toys, and thrive in the company of other cats. Hazel is a true "cat's cat"—she loves to snuggle, follow, and play with her feline friends. Hazel is looking for a very special adopter: someone with patience, compassion, and a quiet home where she can continue to learn that people aren’t so scary. She’ll need to start off in a crate while she adjusts and will take time (and possibly treat bribes) to get comfortable. Right now, petting is reserved for mealtimes, and that may always be the case—but if you’ve got the heart to love a work-in-progress, Hazel is worth the wait. She’d do best in a home with another outgoing and confident cat who can show her the ropes and help her feel safe. With the right feline buddy and a human who understands her boundaries, Hazel has a real shot at growing into the confident cat she was meant to be. Do you have room in your heart for a shy beauty who just needs a little extra time and a lot of love? Hazel’s waiting. 💛 Please be sure to read a cat's full bio before applying! We do our best to keep bios updated as we learn more about each cat or as circumstances change. Story
"Hey Spike, what do you like?" Turns out, she loves cheek and chin rubs, head scratches, and head bumps. Spike is a senior girl with a lot of love to give. She likes exploring her space but also likes having her human around. Strange as it sounds, her previous caretaker also told us she likes listening to Rod Stewart...though it was Tom Petty who wrote a song about Spike. Spike came to us when her caretaker was moving and could not take Spike. It took her some time to settle in, but once she felt safe, she started showing her affectionate side and curious personality. Spike qualifies for our Senior for Seniors Program! If you are 65+ and adopt a cat 10+, the adoption fee is waived along with some other incredible perks! If you have any questions about Spike, please email cats@rispca.org
