Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Louise — the gentle, shy sweetheart who’s learning how wonderful the indoor life can be! Louise spent the first 5–6 weeks of her life in a feral colony, and because of that, she’s still finding her confidence with people. She may be timid at first, but she’s also curious, observant, and quietly playful. Pull out a wand toy or a teaser, and you’ll see her little personality sparkle—she absolutely comes alive during playtime, and it’s one of the fastest ways to warm her heart. Louise has made steady progress in the short time she’s been inside. She allows petting, tolerates being picked up, and feels especially secure when she’s in her safe space. She does sometimes run and hide when approached, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she’s showing more and more trust each day. This sweet girl loves treats—especially salmon or tuna puree—and will happily take them right from your hand. She’s also wonderful with other cats and enjoys snuggling up with them or joining in on their games. Louise is also a litter box superstar and has never had an accident. Here’s a cute video of Louise playing and another video for your viewing enjoyment. With a patient, loving home that lets her grow at her own pace, she’ll blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion. She’s a precious little soul who just needs someone willing to help her confidence bloom. Louise is from a stray surrender with one sibling. We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.Click here to watch a video of Louise.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 26, 2025, 12:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bonded to ZaraMeet Masala! Masala is a beautiful calico estimated to be around 1–2 years old. She came into rescue alongside her kitty friend, Zara. While Zara is the chatty social butterfly, Masala is the gentle soul of the pair — calm, observant, and quietly affectionate once she feels comfortable. Masala isn’t too fond of the hustle and bustle of “office life” — all that commotion just isn’t her cup of tea! She would prefer a peaceful, steady home where she can relax, settle into a routine, and enjoy her favorite pastime: quietly watching the world go by from a cozy perch. She has been around other cats and dogs, though she appreciates slow, gentle introductions as she adjusts. Once she trusts you, Masala’s sweet and loving nature truly shines — a perfect companion for someone who values a calm and loyal feline friend. Masala is from an owner surrender with sister Zara, and they must be adopted together   To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
