Story
Meet Harrison! A dignified seven-and-a-half-year-old Vizsla currently living in Corte Madera, CA, whose golden rust coat radiates warmth and beauty, just like his heart. Harrison is a loving, playful companion who thrives on human connection and adores chasing balls, exploring the outdoors, and enjoying the thrill of a good run. At 62 pounds, he’s a large yet gentle soul who’s happiest when he’s part of a family’s daily life. Harrison has mastered commands like sit, paw, come, and no, thanks to his formal obedience training. His favorite activities include backyard games of fetch and chewing on durable rubber toys, and he’s a fan of daily walks and a cozy bed for his naps. Despite being a medium-energy dog, Harrison loves a steady routine of exercise and mental engagement, including his cherished two-mile walks several times a week. Harrison’s personality is a mix of affectionate loyalty and playful curiosity. He’s a constant companion who finds joy in being by your side and is friendly when meeting new people. However, Harrison is a dog who needs a little extra understanding. He feels uneasy in tight spaces or around large objects like boxes, and in moments of high stress, he has bitten when he felt cornered or overwhelmed. While Harrison is not mean or aggressive, these reactions stem from fear and discomfort rather than malice. He simply needs a caregiver who recognizes his triggers, provides him with space, and reassures him so he can feel safe and secure. Harrison would do best in a home with no small children, as their unpredictable movements and energy can overwhelm him. While Harrison enjoys select canine friendships, he’s not compatible with cats. His perfect home will be one where he’s the center of attention. A loving, patient family who understands his quirks and is eager to celebrate his many wonderful qualities is exactly what Harrison needs. Vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, house-trained, and crate-trained, Harrison is ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish his unconditional love and playful spirit. To make sure that Harrison has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. If you’re ready to welcome Harrison into your life, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com today! Are you the caring family Harrison is waiting for to share his loyalty, love, and zest for life?

Story
Levi is a loving, energetic, and incredibly smart dog who is looking for a home where he can truly thrive. He is well-trained, e-collar trained, and responds reliably to commands such as place and stay. Levi is eager to please, affectionate, and bonds closely with his people. Levi has shown that he is a fantastic companion when set up for success. This rehoming decision has been incredibly difficult and is being made out of love and concern for everyone’s safety. Our goal is to find Levi a safe, stable, and forever home where he can be the amazing dog we know he is. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, and well-trained dog who wants nothing more than to be your one and only, Levi may be the perfect fit! Levi does best as the only male dog in the home. While he has received professional training and is wonderful in many settings, he does not do well living with another male dog and needs a calm, structured environment without canine triggers. In a single-dog home, Levi shines!

Story
I am a 18/month old Vizsla looking to be rehomed. I'm a cuddler and love to get rubs. I have lots of energy, so I need a home with a yard and love my walks. I'm house trained, up to date with shots and vet visits. I still have a little separation anxiety so maybe someone who works from home. Prefer a one dog home..

Story
Meet Heineken! A lively seven-and-a-half-year-old Pointer mix currently living in Three Rivers, OR, whose zest for life is as strong as his love for a good trail run and a sunny nap. With his mostly white coat and athletic 65-pound frame, he’s a striking sight on the trail—and a loyal companion through every season of adventure and rest! Heineken is a trail-blazing athlete at heart. Long-distance runs? No problem! Lake fetch? Count him in! He’s the kind of dog who thrives on outdoor activity and brings unfiltered joy to every hike, run, and splash session. But he’s not all go-go-go—this guy knows how to chill. After a good workout, he’ll happily stretch out in a sunny patch of grass or curl up fireside, satisfied and calm. Trained in all the basics—sit, stay, come, leave it, lay down, “kennel up”—Heineken is incredibly responsive to clear direction and structure. He’s crate trained, house-trained, and comfortable being left alone for stretches of the day. But like many sensitive souls, he has his quirks. Heineken does best in a calm, predictable environment and has shown that the hustle and bustle of young children isn’t his scene. He becomes anxious around infants and toddlers, especially when there’s crying or sudden movement. In one instance, he snapped at a baby during a stressful moment—he didn’t cause harm, but it was enough to show that a kid-free home or one with older, dog-savvy children (age 10+) would suit him far better. He’s also selective with other dogs, especially off-leash. While he can be friendly and playful with the right match—typically females or mellow males—he can become territorial or threatened around unfamiliar dogs, and he tends to react strongly to huskies in particular. Positive introductions and controlled environments are key to his success. Loud vehicles like motorcycles can startle him, and he may bark or lunge out of nervous energy. He’s on a low dose of vet-prescribed Fluoxetine, which has helped ease some of that reactivity, alongside the natural maturity that comes with age. Heineken is looking for a home that embraces his active lifestyle and respects his sensitivities. Could your home be his next great chapter? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and see if Heineken’s trail-ready heart belongs by your side!
