Story
Meet Harrison! A dignified seven-and-a-half-year-old Vizsla currently living in Corte Madera, CA, whose golden rust coat radiates warmth and beauty, just like his heart. Harrison is a loving, playful companion who thrives on human connection and adores chasing balls, exploring the outdoors, and enjoying the thrill of a good run. At 62 pounds, he’s a large yet gentle soul who’s happiest when he’s part of a family’s daily life. Harrison has mastered commands like sit, paw, come, and no, thanks to his formal obedience training. His favorite activities include backyard games of fetch and chewing on durable rubber toys, and he’s a fan of daily walks and a cozy bed for his naps. Despite being a medium-energy dog, Harrison loves a steady routine of exercise and mental engagement, including his cherished two-mile walks several times a week. Harrison’s personality is a mix of affectionate loyalty and playful curiosity. He’s a constant companion who finds joy in being by your side and is friendly when meeting new people. However, Harrison is a dog who needs a little extra understanding. He feels uneasy in tight spaces or around large objects like boxes, and in moments of high stress, he has bitten when he felt cornered or overwhelmed. While Harrison is not mean or aggressive, these reactions stem from fear and discomfort rather than malice. He simply needs a caregiver who recognizes his triggers, provides him with space, and reassures him so he can feel safe and secure. Harrison would do best in a home with no small children, as their unpredictable movements and energy can overwhelm him. While Harrison enjoys select canine friendships, he’s not compatible with cats. His perfect home will be one where he’s the center of attention. A loving, patient family who understands his quirks and is eager to celebrate his many wonderful qualities is exactly what Harrison needs. Vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, house-trained, and crate-trained, Harrison is ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish his unconditional love and playful spirit. To make sure that Harrison has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. If you’re ready to welcome Harrison into your life, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com today! Are you the caring family Harrison is waiting for to share his loyalty, love, and zest for life?

Viola is a precious, sensitive girl with a soft soul and so much love to give. She’s been through a lot, but despite it all, she continues to show her gentle spirit and sweet nature every single day. Once she feels safe, she wants nothing more than to be close to her person, soak up affection, and enjoy the comfort of a calm, predictable routine.Viola walks beautifully on leash, enjoys her twice-a-day strolls, and finds a lot of comfort in her cozy crate — it’s her little sanctuary. She’s also starting to learn new routines and is doing a great job settling into a home environment. While new people and new situations can make her a bit unsure, she absolutely blossoms with patience, kindness, and time. This lovely girl will do best with someone who understands that trust grows slowly and gently. In return, Viola offers the sweetest companionship: soft eyes, quiet devotion, and the joy of seeing a once-worried pup begin to feel safe and loved again. If you’re looking to make a real difference in a dog’s life — and gain a loyal, tender friend in the process — Viola is ready to start her next chapter with you.I`m available for a 10 day adoption trial!Learn more about our adoption process.

Story
Meet Judo! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed currently living in Bend, OR, whose heart is as big as his love for adventure. With his striking white coat sprinkled with black patches and a galaxy of tiny spots, Judo is as unique in appearance as he is in personality. Whether he's sprinting through the trails, keeping pace on a long run, or stretching out for a lazy day indoors, this adaptable boy is happiest when he’s with his favorite people! Judo is a true athlete—he can easily run 10+ miles or tackle a rugged hike, yet he’s just as content lounging around the house. His energy is balanced by his affectionate side, and his idea of a perfect evening involves snuggling up with his favorite humans. He has excellent house manners, is fully house-trained, and even free-feeds, maintaining a healthy weight of 51 pounds. He sleeps soundly through the night (sometimes up to 14 hours!) and greets his people with the most enthusiastic tail wag imaginable! Judo thrives in an adult-only home where he can feel secure and at ease. After a stressful experience, he has become anxious around children and is looking for a home without young ones. His sensitivity heightened after he was attacked by another dog, which led to increased wariness in certain situations. He nipped a toddler when the child became more mobile, signaling that he was uncomfortable with unpredictable movements. Additionally, he has bitten two dogs near his home when he felt threatened, though he does well with other dogs in open spaces and enjoys a good romp. With the right introduction and a calm environment, he may enjoy the companionship of another dog. He’s a sensitive soul who bonds deeply with his people, and while he’s independent in some ways, he appreciates understanding and patience when it comes to things like nail trims and long car rides. He loves playing in the rain and snow, but isn’t a fan of going out in it when it’s time for him to go. His ideal guardian is active, experienced with dogs who have some anxiety, and willing to provide him with both exercise and a calm, structured environment. To make sure that Judo has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Judo has been a cherished companion for six years, and now he’s looking for a new loving home where he can continue to thrive. Could you be the one to give him that? If so, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this incredible dog!

Story
Meet Heineken! A lively seven-and-a-half-year-old Pointer mix currently living in Three Rivers, OR, whose zest for life is as strong as his love for a good trail run and a sunny nap. With his mostly white coat and athletic 65-pound frame, he’s a striking sight on the trail—and a loyal companion through every season of adventure and rest! Heineken is a trail-blazing athlete at heart. Long-distance runs? No problem! Lake fetch? Count him in! He’s the kind of dog who thrives on outdoor activity and brings unfiltered joy to every hike, run, and splash session. But he’s not all go-go-go—this guy knows how to chill. After a good workout, he’ll happily stretch out in a sunny patch of grass or curl up fireside, satisfied and calm. Trained in all the basics—sit, stay, come, leave it, lay down, “kennel up”—Heineken is incredibly responsive to clear direction and structure. He’s crate trained, house-trained, and comfortable being left alone for stretches of the day. But like many sensitive souls, he has his quirks. Heineken does best in a calm, predictable environment and has shown that the hustle and bustle of young children isn’t his scene. He becomes anxious around infants and toddlers, especially when there’s crying or sudden movement. In one instance, he snapped at a baby during a stressful moment—he didn’t cause harm, but it was enough to show that a kid-free home or one with older, dog-savvy children (age 10+) would suit him far better. He’s also selective with other dogs, especially off-leash. While he can be friendly and playful with the right match—typically females or mellow males—he can become territorial or threatened around unfamiliar dogs, and he tends to react strongly to huskies in particular. Positive introductions and controlled environments are key to his success. Loud vehicles like motorcycles can startle him, and he may bark or lunge out of nervous energy. He’s on a low dose of vet-prescribed Fluoxetine, which has helped ease some of that reactivity, alongside the natural maturity that comes with age. Heineken is looking for a home that embraces his active lifestyle and respects his sensitivities. Could your home be his next great chapter? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and see if Heineken’s trail-ready heart belongs by your side!
