Story
Socialization:  Ruby gets excited meeting new people who are friendly with her. She does jump when meeting people but is easily directed. She loves all people and has been observed to be well socialized with men, women and kids of various ages. Ruby has been submissive with her foster family. She, for the most part, follows the lead with whoever is with her. She is very playful with those who want to play, humans or other dogs and she will relax and cuddle if everyone else is doing the same. She gets along great with other dogs too. As long as other dogs are respectful to her she does the same in return. Dogs that are rough with her or too domineering frighten her and she will give them a short snap to let them know to leave her alone. Once she feels safe and comfortable with another dog, she will engage in play and enjoy a game of chase. She has not been exposed to cats. Training:  Ruby responds to her name when called. Being only 2 years old, she still requires a lot of redirecting and could benefit from a family that can help get Ruby to be better trained with behaviors such as counter surfing, begging, or pulling on walks. Ruby is still not 100% house broken. Her foster family lets her out often and has made tremendous improvements from the beginning. Ruby has not been left alone for a long period of time. In the beginning she was crated and did fine in the crate. The last several weeks she has been able to roam the house freely with the resident dog, also without issue. For anyone that likes to take their dog almost everywhere, Ruby has done fine in the car. She will benefit from being secured in a back passenger seat versus being free in the back. Activity requirements:  Ruby is a very energetic dog that would benefit being with a family who is consistently active or has space for her to run around outside. She has periods of playful moments in the house but for the most part is easy going and puts forth a lot of her energy outside. She has been going on leashed walks or runs twice a day ranging from 20-50 minutes per day. In true hunter fashion, Ruby will try to chase squirrels so her new family needs to be cautious as she pulls and is very strong. Fence requirements:  Ruby primarily pees/poops off leash so a fenced yard is preferable. Additonally, Ruby requires consistent exercise so either a fenced yard in which she can run off-leash and/or regular leashed walks/runs/dog parks would be appropriate. Her foster home has a privacy fence however she never tried to jump or escape in any way. Ruby also enjoys being outside to relax and enjoy the sun. An invisible fence may also be an option for her but only with an experienced owner to train a prey driven dog. Personality:  Ruby can be described as a friendly and sweet dog. She thrives on human contact. She often shadows her foster family and loves being in the same room when they are around. Ruby is a very affectionate and loving dog that loves to cuddle and be hugged by her family. She has also gotten along fine with the resident dog and has socialized with other dogs as well. Health history: Ruby is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention.  This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. Foster comments:  Ruby will continue to thrive is she is with a loving, patient family that is committed to making her feel safe, included, and part of the family. An ideal home would be willing to continue working with her on training and help develop positive behaviors through consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. Ruby would also benefit from a family that can provide regular, consistent exercise and mental stimulation to help her stay happy, healthy, and well-balanced. Ruby is an extremely sweet and loving dog. With the right family and plenty of love, Ruby will make for a wonderful and loyal companion. Get ready for extreme cuddles! Foster location: Oak Park, IL Transport note: We are able to arrange volunteer transport to get dogs from their foster home to their adopter as long as the adopter and the foster are within a 1,000 mile radius of each other and the adopter is located in the USA. If the adopter is more than 1,000 miles from the foster home, adoption would only be possible if the adopter is willing to drive the distance beyond the 1,000-mile transport limit. Long distance adoptions may also be possible if the adopter is willing to pay for a flight to get their dog from the foster home to their location if the foster feels this is an appropriate arrangement for the specific dog. Canadian adopters would have to drive into the USA to pick up their dog, as we do not transport outside of the USA. ##2732062##

Story
Let me be your very best hiking and jogging buddy. I am young, active, and would love a bestie for new adventures. My energy level is medium, and I have some good leash manners. I don't always like other dogs - we would have to meet. I don't know any cats.

Story
Archie started as a foster in our pack of four.Archie is a one year old, neutered male. He is extremely sweet and absolutely loves girls and women. He does take patience to warm up to men as he was previously abused by one. He is a sweet dog when in the home and loves to cuddle. Archie is crate trained, house trained and leash trained He LOVES going on walks and runs!!Recently, he has not been getting along with one of our pups. Although he doesn’t like our one dog, he gets along AMAZING with our shepherd mix We are just hoping to find a more comfortable placement for him!He is a viszla/beagle/possibly pit mix adopted from Chippewa County Animal Shelter. We can also provide a kennel. He has been through a 2 week board and train at Great Lakes Dog training and has stayed there for overnight boarding as well. He consistently attends a dog boarding facility and has no issues there. He is a great pup and just needs someone who is is patient, loving and able to work with him.

Ok! And here is a bio for her if you still need one: My Bologna has a first name, it's C-U-T-I-E!! This pup is the whole package. Adorable? ✔️ Sweet? ✔️ Smart? ✔️ Bologna is ready for a family to call her own! Her fosters also affectionately called her "Betty Boop" because she loves nose boops and kisses. She loves other dogs, adults, children ... anyone who wants to play can be her friend! Bologna is a fast learner and housebroken. She will let you know when she wants attention or is ready to go outside. If you're looking for a dog who is playful and adventurous, this is the one for you!
