Story
Meet Myrtle, this amazing girl is more than a survivor—she’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of a second chance.Myrtle’s story is one of heartbreaking cruelty, but also incredible strength. When her owners moved out of their rent house, they left her behind—abandoned in a tiny, filthy kennel with no food, no water, and no way out. She wasn’t alone, either. Curled up beside her were her eight newborn puppies, only two weeks old, relying on their mama for everything. Myrtle was starving, emaciated, doing everything she could to keep her babies alive. Despite the pain she was in, she stayed close to them, protecting them with every ounce of strength she had left. And if that wasn’t enough, she was suffering from a fractured jaw—a devastating injury caused by abuse. She was broken, but not defeated. When rescuers found her, she was barely holding on, but her eyes still had a spark—the look of a mama who wasn’t giving up. She and her litter were rescued and brought to safety, where she began receiving the medical care, nutrition, and attention she urgently needed. Myrtle is learning what kindness feels like, one gentle touch and soft word at a time. Thanks to love, care, and a safe place to heal, Myrtle and her puppies are now on a new path. Her body and spirit are both on the mend. While her previously fractured jaw healed slightly misaligned, it doesn’t slow her down or dampen her zest for life. Her foster home days consist of happily waking up and heading outside for a potty break, then it’s time for a yummy breakfast. After that, it’s playtime—running, sniffing, and soaking up the sunshine for a few hours outside. In the evening, it’s supper time followed by some relaxing couch cuddles. Then it’s time to wind down, get cozy, and get ready for bed. She is flourishing in the joy of being a beloved companion.Myrtle is wonderful with children and other dogs, and she truly enjoys when she’s out on leash walks—one of her favorite activities. She’s also making steady progress with housetraining. She would thrive in a home with kids or an active adopter who will include her in daily playtime and adventures. She’s ready to continue her journey surrounded by love—could that be with you?Name: MyrtleBreed: Weimaraner MixSex: FemaleAge: 3 years (estimated)Weight: 55.0Spayed/Neutered: Vaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently: MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
