Fergie’s story is a true testament to patience, love, and the power of a second chance.For over a year, Fergie survived on her own outdoors after being dumped as a puppy. She wandered a local neighborhood, watching from a distance, stealing cat food, and staying just far enough out of reach. It took weeks of sitting with her, feeding her, and earning her trust before our shelter staff was finally able to bring her to safety.Now, she’s in a wonderful foster home, but suddenly entering a world of doors, walls, leashes, and even plush beds is overwhelming. But this sweet girl is starting to understand how comfortable the house-dog life can be, and she’s blossoming more every day!Here is what Fergie’s foster home has learned about her:1. Fergie adores dog friends and relies on them for confidence. Having learned so much from her foster sister, she must go to a home with another welcoming dog! 2. She is still working on her fear of leashes and restraint, so a secure fenced-in yard is a strict requirement for her safety. 3. She loves watching TV in the living room, playing outside, and tossing her toys around! 4. While trust takes patience, Fergie bonds quickly once she feels safe. She experiences mild anxiety when crated, but she is learning that indoors is a safe place to relax.Fergie doesn`t need someone to save her now. She just needs a patient home with another dog and a fenced yard to show her that she is safe. In return, she will love her people with everything she has!
